Had to water tonight since we've been a week without rain. Had pairs of squash bugs come up the stems on each squash and Zuch plant. Mashed everyone I saw and checked as best I could. Guess I'll have to put some sevin out tomorrow. Dang but that's early. Usually don't see them till much later.

Finally rained! Just enough I'm guessing, mid day yesterday until this AM light of and on. We've had the least amount of rain Jan 1 until June 10+ ever recorded.

Unfortunately lots of berries in my patch dried up from lack of rain, carrying buckets over to water with is not effective as l would like so obviously ended up missing some spots.

While out mowing yesterday, Klaus the Possum goes pig trotting along the fence line, just the other side. That's some mighty fine eating.

Got like 2" Sunday, poured then steady, poured then steady. Garden jumping. Beans abloomin. Fixing to start coming in within another week or so. Laid over a dozen or so stalks of corn. Probably stand the worst of it up tomorrow after it's had a chance to dry out a bit.

I haven't really inspected the tomatoes yet but they're growing like crazy and the jalapeños are coming along nicely.

    Hard neck or soft neck?

You don’t want to leave it too long. The tops will start to brown and dry plus you can look to see if bulbs are fully formed. Sept is too long for the varieties we grow. Think how flower bulbs do

Hard neck can go longer but the bulbs get weird if you don’t pull them

    Softneck.

I may need to pull them and plant a 2nd harvest.
