TRD air intake mod

I could have sworn somebody in here mentioned Mishimoto. My comment is only in reference to that brand.

Yeah its butt dyno approved and a little more growl at WOT but it's not going to move the needle much other than that.

 

Yeah, I have the Mishimoto that I cut down to fit, so it should function the same, but won't look like a hack job, with half the logo cut off.

 

There you go, not going to lie the color coordinated part is nice too. Will probably get around to doing the bands in black at so point too.

Do you happen to know what the HPS band sizes are?

 

I would have to look but its a bit of a tight squeeze though.

Cheap upgrade which I coupled with a TRD Air Filter and the Toyota oversized rubber fender intake.

 

That seems like the way to go for me, I think its a great setup. Did you order directly from KN? I tried to search the parts on their website but only shows full kit. Should I call directly? how did you go about it?

 

yes... called them direct an told them I purchased their filter already. Their CS rep was nice enough to id the parts for the intake tube and respective cost. FYI the pricing was from Dec 2022. May have to pay a bit more... super happy with the cleaner look and placebo effect. I did also add a Gibson catback exhaust to boost the effect .

 

When did you order your pipe? The non TRD box has been out of stock since last week

I'm gonna bring this thread back from the dead with a couple of questions about my plans for my Off Road intake, if you guys don't mind. My thought is to get the TRD Upper Airbox, TRD oiled air filter, Intake flow accelerator, and HPS Intake hose.

1- TRD Upper Airbox - Will this fit the stock TRD Off Road lower airbox? I understand it's not a need, but I just want the cool TRD airbox look (https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/upper-air-box-ptr0335160aa)

2- Intake flow accelerator- Is this included in the TRD Upper Airbox? Or would I need to purchase separately?

3- My thought is that these items should cover me, but am I missing anything?

Just order a tube and the accelerator. Consensus is that the TRD lid is purely cosmetic. Air Filter brand/type/etc. do what you like “high flow” means less filtration, oiled type may get oil on MAF. I installed TOOB & air flow accelerator on mine and have been happy with results.
