@Stitchgirl90 and I went to RADwood Philly on Saturday, and boy did it deliver in terms of Toyota and Lexus representation! I will be linking all of the photos together that are in different threads. My biggest grievance about the car show was with the venue at which it was held rather than the show itself. The show was GREAT! I paid almost $18 each for mine and Amanda's tickets, only to find out upon arrival that the venue was charging $20 for spectators to park on their property!



The venue was Subaru Park, a fairly new arena where the Philadelphia Union soccer team plays. It never said anything on the RADwood website about having to pay for parking; I could tell by the body language of the people in front of me that they were not expecting this. I bought the tickets in advance to save like five bucks per ticket, and I only had $20 in cash on me that I didn't want to spend on parking, so I was one of several people who paid with a credit card; I talked to two people, including the owner of the silver Lexus below, and they were pissed about the unexpected charge for parking.

The other issue was that every single person had to be frisked at the entrance, and I came very close to losing my last bit of patience with a security guard when I had to not only completely empty my pockets, but open up my goddamn glasses case to prove that I had no weapons in it. I commented to the security guard as we was waving the Garrett metal detector wand over me that "I thought we were in Pennsylvania, not Russia"...

At the Syracuse Nationals last year, I had to let them search my cooler to prove I had no alcoholic beverages or glass containers in it, but that wasn't a big deal. At Carlisle, they've never asked to search my cooler or my truck. Not only that, I know for a fact that people carry at the fairgrounds and it is 100% allowed. My friend Jim, who sadly passed away last August, kept his Walther 9mm in his wife's Corvette at a minimum when they were at the Corvette Nationals.

I also encountered a rather stupid security guard at the Philly Auto Show this past January (at the PA Convention Center) who somehow mistook my Nikon D5500 (which is mounted on an intricate shoulder strap) for entire camera case and asked to search it. Once I showed him that it was just a camera, the issue was resolved; I have never encountered anything as draconian as what I encountered at RADwood though. Regardless, we still had a damn good time! My TMNT shirt was a hit!

I walked in to the county courthouse with my pocket knife in my pocket.
The guy took it, held it for me, and gave it back to me when I left. That was cool.

What’s not cool is having a Game Warden ask to search your vehicle.
He didn’t, AFTER I told him he could.
After all, he had already looked it over good from the windows.
All said and done, we actually became pretty good friends.
Every time he seen me after that, he always stoped to talk for a little bit.

It’s not that I care if they search me, it’s the inconvenience.
It’s a waste of my time…….and theirs. They just don’t know it. (Until they search me)

Why was game warden wanting to look infirst place?

 

I don’t know. I didn’t ask him.
But I have a suspicion that my license plate was from a different county.
And the particular park I was at was a known place for drug deals.
So maybe that was it? I don’t know.

When I know I’m a suspect, I don’t open myself up for more questioning.
I just answer their questions, asking them questions only prolongs the process.

I have family members in law enforcement.
And I have plenty of friends in law enforcement.
I know how it works. They’re going to find a reason to do wheat ever it is they want.
And I’m not going to slow them down.
Hell no! I am not keeping them around any longer than needed.
That just gives them more time think of other things to “look for”.

I am Pro law enforcement. Nothing against them.
I just know the ropes. It is how it is……
