The amount of women's pants we produce at my company with no pockets, or worse yet..."faux pockets", is crazy.
What good are pants without pockets??

Yea it’s weird cause it seems like most of that has been in the last 1000 miles or so.

I mean, you were just thinking that using the wrong weight oil would've killed your truck...I'm pretty sure dropping the diff and replacing your oil pan would be the equivalent to getting your balls nailed to a tree stump and having that stump lit on fire with the only thing within arms reach being a rusted hack saw.

Owners manual says for 5w30. This isn't a cocktail to just try. The engineers at Toyota knew what they were doing and spec that oil due to the lubricity it provides over a broad spectrum of temperatures within the tolerances they designed into the moving parts of the engine, such as bearing tolerances and the oil pump flow rate. It wouldn't surprise me if you caused wear in the motor leading to oil consumption from using the wrong oil in your engine for an extended period of time.

@Kwikvette I needed your lock picking abilities this morning...our model changing room in the studio has a door that will lock itself if closed, so I put tape over the latch which has worked for years until this AM when it didn't. Had to climb a 12 foot wall and jump over the side to get into the room. Tried picking it first but have zero idea what I'm doing lol

I think you've given those engineers a little too much credit:laughing:

There's even a really broad temp range in the owners manual for both the 5w30 and 10w30

As someone preparing to do just this, why did you pull the intake plenum off to pull the motor? I have been looking for connections external to it to hook to. Drivers side has the loop bracket, not sure I found a suitable spot on the passenger side. Maybe @Speedytech7 has some tips/tricks too when it comes to pulling the 5vz.

European specs of the 5VZ also recommended 40 weight oil. I think the 5w-30 thing had more to do with CAFE. I mean would that marginal of a difference really change anything?

I had the intake off anyway to replace gaskets, knock sensors, and to install a beefed-up knock sensor harness.

if shit was going to blow up immediately it would be surrounded with lots more warnings in the manual.

A lot of it does have to do with CAFE and helping the engine run optimally in specified conditions

Hey man you do you. If the Tacomas sold in Europe use a different oil then feel free. I can't remember off the top of my head, how many tacomas were sold in Europe?
The manual doesn't warn against a 200 shot of nitrous... So maybe it isn't a terrible idea to strap to the 5vz before I pull it
