I thought it was pretty clear, right now he's given up on fixing the vehicles but if they had a warranty he would give up on life as well

Yeah, little 15W-40 in the summer is the shit. I run 10W-30 sometimes too, whatever is cheaper. Turbo appreciates the thiccness

A reliable vehicle, with the smallest issue (and no warranty) will be the death of him

I feel that part of my identity is driving an old shitbox. It’s what I’ve always done, and the unique charms and more visceral analogue feel of older cars enriches the driving experience. With a new car I’d just feel like a cog in the machine. It’s irrational but even all the little issues add to the spice of life.

Is there a way it could create more oil consumption in an NA 5VZ? I didn’t think so but the point was raised here. I thought 5w-30 and now 0w-20 was more for fuel economy but idk.

I don't usually equate thicker oil with more consumption. I could see you having more consumption issues with something weirdly thin like 20 or 16 weight

Agree, if it's truly burning oil going to a 40 or 50 weight should reduce consumption according to my old shitboxxery spell book :D
