4th Gen Tacoma (2024+)

A lot of the problems were small quality control issues, panel gaps, loose materials. Annoying on a new vehicle yes but it is completely blown out of perspective to feed peoples indignation. As far as I know Toyota has been very good about correcting any issues. A few recalls on a completely new generation vehicle assembled after the worst supply chain issues our modern economy has ever seen, wow who would have thought!

 

Seems like pretty good numbers to me. What do you think the 4th gen is going to get? The turbo is not going to be just $1500 to replace depending on how much damage is done and if you have to pull the engine to replace it.

Those numbers are fine but nothing to write home about. If the heavier tundra is getting 20/24 I wouldn’t be surprised to see 21/26 out of the new taco. Used to be a technician and the average cost is usually between, 1,500 and 2,000 depending on the vehicle. Again costly repairs exists on our current trucks. You have to pull the engine for a steering rack replacement. The problem is that there’s this notion that a turbo will fail prematurely. If you can run 200k on an ecoboost without problems, why wouldn’t Toyota be able to to do better? It’s been beaten to death because people would rather feed their indignation that turbo= bad, rather than acknowledge they are afraid of change. I’ve seen it for years in this place.

Did notice paddle shifters on the new Lexus GX 550, not sure if anyone else did…have only been skimming the threads.

 

If your going to vaguely say something provide information as I did. What other issues besides the 2 I stated have there been?

 

Add a bit more to the $1500 and double the numbers since there are two of them....The average cost for a Toyota Tundra Turbocharger Assembly Replacement is between $6,498 and $7,007. The parts might be $3500 but the labor is a bit more, especially if you can't wiggle it in thru the wheel well and you have to take the engine out to replace.

Don’t tell my wife! I am never right, even when I am! Earlier today she was asking me to keep the ceiling can lights off because they produce too much heat…(air conditioner is out until Thursday) ummm those are LEDs, they hardly produce any. “Just keep them off!” Yes dear…

Yea, they are really obvious in a side shot of the steering wheel, in the official Lexus Presspass photos. Those come in handy, especially in my 2019 Grand Sport.

 

Not until Toyota ships, and releases numbers. Gonna be a long summer of speculation.

Someone here was posting problems he was seeing on a Tundra forum. Hybrid issues, turbo issues, etc.

 

I’ve owned two vehicles with turbos. Neither of them were something I wanted to keep long term into high mileage. That’s the point here. Toyota is know for their long term reliability. Probably not much longer.

 

That sounds fun. Definitely not in the same ballpark as a CV or suspension.
