HOLY SHIT! Toyota makes a bolt that fits that location, without the stupid fucking shoulder on it!? Thats awesome. How did you find that?

I replaced mine with the M14x1.5 flange bolts recommended by Oswego and then @El Taco Sucio here on TW, which have worked great. Only "downside" is those aren't JIS so the wrench size is 18mm instead of 19mm. Its not even a downside, just means an extra wrench and socket to carry in the tool roll.

It was a thread in regards of retorquing shit and how it got rid of some of the noises. I believe he used to have a 4runner and realized the 4runner bolts don’t have the pointless shoulder. Part number research and boom!, picked it up, installed it(even with tires on) torqued it and now there’s only one noise when I bottom out which I can live with.

Hmmm pretty cool but I'd still be a little concerned with where the King misalignment spacers sit.
The alternative Toyota bolt looks to have the same length shoulder as the Tacoma bolt, which is shorter than the Belmetric bolt, which causes a good portion of the misalignment spacer to sit on threads. In the lower picture I've marked approx. where the Toyota shoulder ends.
I think it's much better than the Tacoma bolt but the threads may still eat the spacer .

Well, I replaced my lower coilover bolts with these ones and most of my minor clunking is now gone. FWIW I have Fox coilovers and I believe the issue is the pressure in the eye of the coilover lines up right on top of the shoulder transition on the stock bolts. I am going to get new hardware from Fox and start fresh in that area.

This new part number doesnt have any shoulder. It goes straight into threads. Making a rough guess based on that tape the unthreaded length of this is only a few mm shorter than the Belmetric bolt. Maybe one or two threads would hit the spacer?

Like I said the Belmetric bolt is still a great option, but interesting to have an OEM alternative

I bought the aftermarket extended shoulder bolts as well. Might as well throw them on, although my issue is already solved fortunately

The non-threaded portion between the flange and threads is the shoulder. The Tacoma bolt has a weird double shoulder.
As long as the shoulder on the 90105-14104 is long enough, it should be a great fix.
Can anyone measure this for me?

Thanks I'll try to measure one of the BelMetric bolts when I get home. Below shows how much of the alignment spacer sits on the threads (on the Tacoma bolt), you can tell by the thread indents on the spacer that make it look like it's actually threaded. Since there is no step down shoulder on the new bolt, it shouldn't be as bad but I'd prefer the aluminum spacer sits as fully onto the smooth shoulder as possible.

Ok so in the post I deleted I completely forgot to add the thickness of the mounting bracket on the flange side. What we care about is the distance from the flange to the opposite misalignment spacer edge. This needs to include the flange side of the mounting bracket.
So here goes another try… BTW I’m sticking with metric since these are metric bolts.

The factory Tacoma bolt has a double stepped shoulder that drops down at 21.3mm. The threads start at 34.45mm
    upload_2023-6-12_17-9-20.jpg

The 104 bolt has a straight shoulder that steps down at 36.11mm (1.4215x25.4) with a small gap (2.5mm?) to the threads.
    upload_2023-6-12_17-10-53.jpg

The BelMetric bolt has a straight shoulder that steps down at 40.73mm with a 2.5mm gap to the threads.
    upload_2023-6-12_17-13-6.jpg

This brings us to the alignment spacer width (39.71mm) plus the mounting bracket width (5mm) for a total of 44.71mm.

The stock Tacoma bolt has the problem of the double shoulder as well as 6-7 thread engagement to the misalignment spacer.
    upload_2023-6-12_17-19-21.jpg

The BelMetric bolt has the straight shoulder that almost covers the span of the spacers and mounting bracket. It looks to have about 1 thread engagement.
    upload_2023-6-12_17-21-31.jpg

I don’t have the 104 bolt but if the threads start at 38.61mm (36.11+2.5), you’ll probably have a 4 thread engagement.

Since this bolt doesn’t have the dropped down shoulder before the threads, I don’t think they will eat up the spacer as badly but I’m not sure if they will still get noisy eventually.

I guess if 19mm drive is important to you, use the 104 bolts. If you want your misalignment spacers sitting on less threads get the BelMetric. At least we have more options now.

@Ricardo13x can you set your calipers to 44.71mm and hold them to the 104 bolt?

They’re installed, would that work? Like I might be able to set the caliper to mm and take a picture by the side of the bolt.

Nah we need to see where 44.71mm away from the flange is on the 104 bolt. I don’t think we could show that on one that’s installed. Maybe someone that has or gets one can do it.

make sure you put brake part lube on the pins, shims and the back of the pads…

that stuff gets all kinds of weather down there, builds up with rust and gunk and then the pads hang up and don’t float on the pins…

    clang, clang, clang.

another good habit is to pull out the pads, clean them up and re-lube every time you rotate the tires… helps keep the ruckus to a minimum

Measurements attached. Youll notice the flange has four raised lines in it. Exactly the same as the three shackle and eye bolts for each leaf pack in the rear. To prevent the bolt from spinning as the nut is torqued.

From the measurements there is technically full engagement of the nut onto the bolt, though Ill admit its close. Still, I feel these are a good OEM solution even with some overlap of the spacer onto the threads. Even the Belmetric bolt has that issue

~40mm total bearing + spacer width, plus 4mm on each side for the LCA. The fully threaded length of the factory bolt is 70.5mm for comparison

@20somethingwidataco PS sorry we totally derailed your thread :D
