$10k was to diy. So a shop is triple that. The invoices for my sas van reflect that. There's always more than you realize. I'm LS swapping my Tacoma and I am already looking at $7k and that's everything myself (besides the machine shop). Just know big conversions are pricey.

The shop owner I make parts for does LS swaps and yeah...a lot of it goes into the time and effort spent for one-off parts and more.

As for the shop, Mechanics of Mayhem.

 

I believe it. There are a few obstacles I need to overcome. Exhaust/steering, engine mounts, oil pan clearance, etc. We will figure it out once the 5vz is out, a lot of shit to figure out once I get there. It's one part figuring it out, one part hiding it from the HOA. Last time I was building a truck in the driveway I got complaints after a week. The van makes a good wall thankfully.

Yea I’ve heard of $45k for an out the door 80 series LS swap at shops out in California. Some people have cash to burn.

Ah fuck, my house I'm renting out is on HOA and though it's not bad, it's more expensive than most at $200/mo. Think it's more money so they don't mess with us? Idk. Current house has no HOA.

Good thing you've got a means of hiding said work though.

As for parts, here's one of their motor mounts I make for them. They make their own crossmember but unfortunately I have no hand in that -

In fact I'm making him a sign but he wants maybe to incorporate a spark plug or something as part of the design.

That and I need to clean this up so I don't run into linking constraints, but also keep enough detail to make it look good.
