Here’s my next project and I would like your advice my TW friends.
Truck just hit 122,000 miles and I don’t think the coolant has ever been replaced. So….
I’m doing a complete drain, radiator, reservoir, both engine drain points, flushing with distilled water and then replacing with Toyota 50/50 pink stuff. While I’m at it I’ll be replacing the 3 idler pulleys, as well as the bearing in the tensioner pulley (saving some money and a shit load of time:thumbsup:), and the serpentine belt too.
I have a new OEM thermostat as well as a OEM water pump on hand. My water pump isn’t leaking and engine temperature operates as it should, no issues what so ever.

Would y’all go ahead and replace the thermostat and water pump at the mileage I listed or wait until later? I guess I’m trying to figure risk/reward.
And to save all of us another damned oil thread, the manual states GL-4 or GL-5 for the t case, why Toyota!, this fucks with my Tacoma related OCD so hard. I get that you can use either, and I’ve read through the forum but have found nothing definitive for which one is safer/better for the t-case? Redline MT90 (gl-4) or Redline 75-90?

    Thank you!

Thermostat, yes. Water pump, no. Mine lasted till 220k on my 2007, and actually only the gasket failed.

^^^^ Yes on the stat, no on the pump.
You will create more issues messing with a perfectly good pump.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I have 220k and only changed the thermostat because the gasket was leaking. Had to do it again shortly after because I used an aftermarket thermostat. Use the OEM. Otherwise, I just flush and fill every 75k.

As for transfer case...I use the same 80W-90 in the differentials and transfer case. I get 6 quarts and do them all at the same time from the same jugs.

You have the part # for the OEM thermostat. Seeing these posts makes me realize I haven't flushed my coolant in about 110,000 miles and the thermostat is 16+ years old right now.

https://youtu.be/P1nRt0mcxOE?t=1769 Maritime vessel tracking and the current traffic patterns explained in this video. If it's not coming in by air, we're seeing warehouse inventories being depleted and not restocked. I ordered a couple Nanuk cases last month and received a shipping update today that replaces the previous update of an expected ship date of June 21 with July 05. Now is the time to prepare...

I thought I read that wrong....

You might be able to get away with it in a passenger car or fwd vehicle but a 4wd truck... I wouldn't do it.

I got it in 2010 for about $3000 IIRC. It's a game changer when you don't have ot get out the jack and stands anymore. I do wish I had a full height lift, because you still end up crawling around under the vehicle, but it's still very nice to have.

At my old house I actually had a hole cut in the middle of the garage floor and poured a square recessed slab so the lift was flush with the floor. Even had the lines run through conduit under the slab to the control box on the wall. I hated to leave that setup behind!

Is it fine to cut the support that runs under thee head lights/ grille? Haven't looked good to see what it might hold.

probably gonna needa cut it for the winch. Also, how much can I trust the three bolts
That hold the stock crash bar?

Watch Nate on dirtlifestyle, he does this to his Tacoma, but welds back on a support piece. Of course his is a ‘20 I moved my control box to make room, if you have a winch with a relocate able control box, that might be the better option.

Just looking when I got back t to my truck, I don't think curing a couple inches out of the center is gonna hurt much. Only bolts I felt were for the fillers under the headlights. Will definitely check better for cutting
