I use the anti theft device and also have the FOB locking tailgate. Just in the event truck is left unlocked or malfunction. WIN

Just an fyi, the factory tailgate lock is Easley overcome with a tool that every tweeker has, a screw driver. Or you can unplug the harness and touch it with a 9volt battery and pop, it's open.

Some sort of lock is a lot cheaper than a deductible.

You may not realize that it is not simply getting a new tailgate the next day in the junkyard.
Last guy posted his tailgate stolen, took him 2-3 months to get a replacement tailgate and harness, cost him more than $5000 Parts and labor.

You pay the maximum monthly insurance payment to keep your deductible at zero, and you oppose a $30 part that will significantly deter tailgate theft? Just asking. Not judging.

I do understand that. And again for like the 3rd time if a thief wants your stuff they’ll get it. Wasnt born yesterday. I understand these circumstances…..

and like I just said…. I just made a simple quick post and recommended the oem lock. Don’t care if the op listens to me or not lol

I have the OEM lock as well however that can be defeated in about 20 seconds. Your recommendation is a poor one and a foolish one. It’s best to give new owners the full story, an explanation not just part. Make a recommendation based upon facts not opinion.

To waste $20 a month on the deductible difference is foolish. You’re spending $240 a year that’s just throwing away money unless you’re the type who has a claim all the time.

Lastly, quit taking a crap in the OP’s thread about a rather wonderful product

once again, piss poor information checked out on your part. You didn’t state is $21 difference for six months.

You keep throwing out the insults, keep thrown out the poor information, every time you do it it just brings your credibility closer to zero.

Didn’t realize that we get your little pink panties so water up your crack so quickly or so easily. My apologies you’re butt hurt.

    Got mine installed
A bit of added assurance, even though I have the Toyota tailgate lock installed.

Installation was rather straightforward. I did use a soldering iron for 2 to 3 minutes on the factory screw. The heat from a soldering iron broke the bond with a screw, and it was removed very easily. no drilling, easy-out needed.

When installing the tailgate lock, I did have to remove a small amount of sealant as stated a few times above. I did end up using an anti-tamper screw. I used a small ratchet wrench that is designed for use with Apex bits.

**Forgot to state, I ordered “silver sky metallic” my truck is celestial silver metalic.

One hell of a wonderful product.
