Do I have any leverage with the dealer here with a delay?

I screenshotted the text from the salesman and I have a signed purchase agreement from the sales manager. They "SEEM" to be pretty upfront about everything but we will see.

Pretty much the only thing that has any legal value that you get from a car dealer is the bill of sale.

They are not legally bound to sell anything to you and any pre-sale arrangements aren’t worth anything, even if you put money down.

This was in 2022 for a 2022. It was peak nuts at the time. The dealer said Toyota had outsourced the inventory computer system and it was a complete disaster. Toyota then dumped the outsourced inventory system and created their own. My truck was built during the change over in inventory systems and mine got lost in the system(s). Or, so they say. Shrug.

I put a down payment on a 2021 in March 2021, it was transferred to a 2022 in June 2021 and I got it in April 2022. So took just over a year to get it.

jesus fuck me. I wonder if there are going to be any 2023 allocations that take so long it overlaps with the 2023 retooling and someone gets a free "upgrade" new gen 2024 tacoma lol. i want a 3rd gen. I had my fill of turbos on the 2014 ecoboost f150 i had when both went out and the only shop i found to repair wanted $7k because lifting the cab was the easiest way to replace them. i know toyota is better than ford but look at the new tundra issues.

Doesnt matter to me really, my old truck paid for my new truck totally including taxes so fuck it. I won either way. But youre probably right, hopefully me overpaying a little on MSRP keeps them from fucking with me during the final paperwork but probably not lol

LOL, you have a contract, so who knows? I hadn’t, so I had to pay the higher MSRP price tag, but they honored the deal we negotiated on the accessories (plus they gave me a few other things as the Canadian model didn’t come as advertised - blacked out emblems and hood decal).

Back in 2018 when the world was still sane. I woke up on a Saturday Morning, drove to a dealer in Dallas, haggled or an hour drove home by 1:00pm with my new 2018 TRD DBCB Ah the good ole days.

I did basically the same thing in May of 2021. Looked online at their inventory for what I wanted, called them to make sure it was still available, went in and haggled, had a wrestling match with the F&I guy, and drove it home the same day for $2,500 below MSRP.

It's crazy cause I've read and watched video, with people saying Toyota corporation has made record profits the last several quarters and they are intensionally keeping inventory in the states low to jack up prices,
Ford, jeep, chevy are in a slightly different boat the dealer are still intent on charging the market adjustment b. S.
Vehicles marked up 10-15 thousand now banks are not wanting to loan money if the true value is not thier. Plus repo's are up and they can't get the bucks out of them cause people over paid.

    It's crazy.
