I JUST got my 2002 Toyota Xtra Cab from copart to fix up and use to keep my YZF-R6 in, only my parents just found out (this morning) that I had the motorcycle and are now making me sell both for a car :(...

    About it:
-Literally got the truck delivered to campus this morning. Called parents to send up some paperwork and they found my R6 title... Starts, Runs, Drives, and Works Fine too, just needs some body work from the dents and scratches. Its an Evergreen Pearl Rwd 4cyl 2.4L XTR Cab Automatic with 103k miles

    The Good:
-Accident was described as "Impact with Fence" and only has body damage and the turn part of the headlights broken.
    - No Engine lights, Coolant lights, Oil lights, Airbag lights, or Any kind of performance malfunction lights are on!
    - Only needs those two turn signal bulbs to get registered and road legal!

    The Bad:
-Does have salvage title from the accident, but only needs 2 cheap lights to get that changed.

Feel free to come by and check it out! Easy fix up with potential to make ALOT too.. (No trades, sorry) I am located in Blacksburg VA. Give me a call or txt 7o44o2oo74 with any questions.

salvage title is not a huge deal in MD, just need an inspection from the state PD to say it's good again. but if your over 18 i'd just tell the rents your keeping it...

Parents pay for my college tuition, which comes to about 14k a year from out of state here at VT :( so keeping it now isnt really an option, otherwise I definatly would...

Does price sound too high though? I'm thinking the previous owner worked out a deal with an autobody store to get the insurance money, because its only got external body damage. Hell, if someone wanted, two corner turn lights and youve got a drivable 2002 with only 103k miles.

Im sure I could get it all cleaned up for 1-2k with good paint, but any ideas what a rebuilt title would go for? I would think 7-8k?? I just don't have the time now since they want it gone NOW :(

A rebuilt title will hurt resale but not as much as a salvage title, if all it needs is turn signals put them on and get a rebuilt title. Also maybe put on a new fender as that would help it look a lot better. I'm not sure you'll get $7 or 8 outa a 2wd with 100,000mi and a salvage history, but you'll def get more if you get that title rebuilt.

Previous owner drank some Obama kool-aid. I wonder if he spilled any of it when he hit that fence.

The only thing is, to get it registered here and re-inspected it would cost 300 to who ever is going to keep it. No use paying registration twice if I am just going to put two bulbs on it to get the rebuilt title, then the next buyer also pays registration...

do you have to get it registered? here you would just have to do the title, not get plates or register it, also it will sell for more than $300 more with a rebuilt title. just my $0.02

Looks like I might be able to keep it after all, but driving around I am starting to realize i really need a V6 4X4. Comparing it to my parents 4Runner 1994 4cyl, it seems alot more toned down... : / Things just keep getting better and better...

I buy from copart and iaai and salvage direct all the time...but it is complicated.

-First, is the salvage title, which is solvable.
-Second, is the fact they write it to my company, which is not a dealer but an exporter. So I can't reassign it. I can't even register it under my company name. How did you buy, not title and reassign? You have a dealer license?
-Third, who the hell paid $4700 for this and people are telling me my 01 4x4 ext cab is only worth 3500? (clean title, private truck-not auction)

-And finally, in DC you can register salvage title all day long...lucky bastards.
