I see there was some discussion regarding whether the cyclones would be too bright for camp lighting, etc. Has anyone tried dimming them with a PWM controller? I'd think the regulator circuitry wouldn't be compatible, but I don't know the details of the circuit.

I’d highly doubt you’d be able to dim them, it would likely result in flickering. Too bright really depends on the purpose in camping. I’ve got the amber lens v1 units on the underside of my RTT by the ladder and I think they are great for the purpose. I prefer the warmer color temp of the yellow light output for camping, which also slightly reduces intensity.

Anybody got any advice for wiring a single rock light?
I am planning on sticking a single DD rock light onto my bed rack to illuminate the bed.

I plan on just wiring the high power mode (10watt)- is it necessary to wire it with a relay in the circuit and/or a fuse? or is 10 watts low enough I can just wire straight to power?
I do plan on connecting a switch to it in the bed somewhere, and to an always "hot" power source.

Electrical circuits are like doing math fractions problems to me :p my brain is too smooth to fully understand it, so any advice is appreciated.

10w is doable without a relay, just make sure the switch is rated for it. All electrical circuits should always have a fuse, no exceptions. Non-fused circuits is how electrical fires start.

Regarding the fuse: I've read online that to determine fuse size is Watt/Volt x 1.2.

    So 10 watts divided by 12 volts x 1.2 = 1

so therefore I should be ok with a 1 amp fuse?
