TRD oil filter?

Any of you guys running the TRD oil filters? I picked one up and dam these filters look super high quality. Coming up on my first break in oil change at 3k miles I’m thinking of using this TRD filter.

 

I bought a used Motivx oil change kit and the guy had (4) of these TRD filters included in the deal....I have used one on my first oil change.

there's a fine line.

fundamentally, one cannot filter finer contaminants without slowing down the oil.
so for a filter to flow better, it simply means that it filters less.

think pushing jello through your teeth.

i know a guy that refuses to run k&n filters, as he saw too many motorcycle engines get eaten up running them at a previous job.

you can have better filtering, or you can have a higher flow rate. you can never have both without extra vehicle mods.

That cheese grater center tube looks awfully restrictive, esp. since it's redundant - there's already a steel tube in the filter housing. I bet the bypass valve opens a lot more often with this filter, letting unfiltered oil through.

 

I'd honestly push for a longer interval if I used this filter. I've seen maybe 2 in my career of 10 years at toyota.

There's no break in but its 100% your truck. I'd suggest 5k first oil change (which is 5k early by toyota standards) then 8-10k with the TRD filter.

Yeah, its gotta make the life of your engine last at least 100 hrs. longer over the regular toyota filters....and because they're trd, thats priceless.

 

Amsoil and Royal Purple makes the same filter.
It is what I have been using since 5000 miles.

I use the trd filter along with amsoil signature series for all oil changes.

 

As a discriminating Pro owner, I'd expect nothing less. Since you like the finer things, I can offer you a great deal on a toll bridge.

Oil is fancy going in and out. Fumoto drain value out and Motivx funnel in along with the metal filter housing. Also send the oil off for analysis too

 

I did my last oil change on Saturday at 1400 miles with Pennzoil Platinum 0W30 and OEM filter

For reference, the typical distance covered at the 24 Hours of Le Mans is about 3400 miles...
