    Yes. Try this……
    It’s not that complicated.
It’s that Toyota complicated it by designing it in a stupid way.
But……in your case. That stupid way might just help you.

Toyota isn't the only one to run the vehicle speed from the ABS through multiple modules, Ford did the same thing on their trucks back in the 90s when they first went to a digital odometer and GM even had a separate module on their trucks in the 90s that was responsible for calibrating the vehicle speed output from the speed sensor to the configuration of the vehicle and outputting it to the other modules.

Yeah. I’m fine with one component going down.
It’s when it takes others with it……

Great job! Very nice write up and the help was outstanding. I am currently putting a 5.3 into an 07 Tacoma. I’ve got the power and key on power working. My issue is with the fuel pump. I’ve gone over the wiring diagrams many times, but the one thing the manual doesn’t help with is the distance or length of wire from one point to another. The truck was a 4 cyl/manual truck. There was no “resistor” near the battery. Can you suggest the best place to tie in my “fuel pump” wire coming off my LS pcm? I’ve tried several areas w no luck. Thank you in advance for any guidance possible.

That’s what I thought but I removed it and didn’t realize it. It’s a little connector down behind the driver headlight. See if you can find it.

I don’t seem to have that. I had contacted munkeywrenches about his build. He didn’t remember what wire he tied into but said it was in drivers sill plate in cab. In my truck, I thought that would be the blk/red wire (4 wires to fuel pump) that appeared to be the power wire. But no luck.

Yeah it is the black with red stripe wire. That’s the wire that my Holley puts 12v on to turn on my fuel pump.

That’s what I thought. Under hood there are 2 blk/red wires… not sure if it makes a difference on which one. However, because of all the various relays, etc. within the system wasn’t sure the best place to tap into that wire and bypass all of the Toyota parts. Where did you tie into the black/red wire?

I tapped into it right behind the driver headlight, where the fuel pump resistor normally is.

Apparently that resistor is not used for the 2.7 equipped Tacoma…it’s not on this truck.

@Dm93 could you lend a hand? Which wire on the main engine room harness takes care of the fuel pump on the 2.7L?

It's going to be Black/Red but there's no connector in the engine bay that it goes through, the only connector it goes through is IB1 (Pin 8) which is behind the drivers side kick panel.

You could tap into it in the engine bay but you would need to figure out which Black/Red wire it is as there are several.

The Black/Red wire runs from the IB1 connector to the F19 Fuel Suction Pump and Gage Assembly (from the 2009 Tacoma wiring manual Engine Control 2TR-FE section). The input wire to the IB1 connector runs from the C/OPN Relay next to #14 Fuel Pump Relay (1GR-FE)with a 10amp fuse for EFI on the other side. Above and below the C/OPN Relay sit the FR FOG Relay (1GR-FE) and the A/F HEATER Relay. These are in Engine Compartment Left - Relay Box & Junction Box.
I hope that helps, as I always try to get the manuals for my equipment, a necessity in rural life.

Thank you guys! Got the fuel sorted out. Problem turned out to NOT to be wiring but fuel lines connected backwards (ie flow out switched with return). Was going by a factory ‘07 fuel tank diagram…had the 2lines labeled incorrectly. Once I pulled the fuel pump assembly out and verified what was output and return, switched lines and it runs!
For the life of me, I am not having any luck with getting my temp and tach to function. I’m using a factory 07tacoma electrical manual and have checked the wires for continuity and that’s good. The manual shows the tach wire to be black w white stripe and temp to be green w black stripe. That is where I tied in, but no good. When running, the temp needle immediately jumps to the center of the high/low marks. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. I understand the a/c is not going to function unless it sees rpm and temp. Please correct me if I am incorrect.

I recall someone mentioning ( can't remember who and probably on TW) that the GM ECM has to be set to I think 4-cylinder output signal for the Tacoma cluster to have hopes of reading it. It could be done through HP Tuners. Not sure if this will help you at all but thought I'd chime in.
