this might sound stupid but many of the japanese people, even when stressed, pissed, or worried, they never show it on their face. theyre just quiet. do you guys think this relates to their "whatever" reactions to whats going on?

Yea, part of the live feed i'm getting tells stories of local japanese people living in gymnasiums but laughing and playing like nothings going on. If they do know, then I envy their strength, if they haven't been really told. then its the government trying to keep the people calm.

thats smart, our media here is all fucked up, the tsunami here in california blew up as if the world was ending and in san diego barely anything happened. but the media had everyone worked up and freaking out.

I figured the same-but shortwave becomes a main medium in disasters-you would think they would be directing, updating-etc. but you are right,, maybe just offering gentle programming is the thing to do at this point:(
I agree with you too here-our media seems to be acting a bit too hungry on this.

I think if I was about to be vapourated (Like if I was near the reactor or something) I would rather be calm then losing it in the last moments...

    Ha-yeah right!
The thing about the shortwave situation, is that all someone in Japan has to do is tune to Radio Australia, Voice of America, or the BBC right now-all of whom are fully covering this disaster as I type and are broadcasting their transmissions to the Asias and the Pacific rim (this is the time of day that they do) and it kinda makes Radio Japan look like they're hiding something from the people.

Potassium Iodide tablet or raw powder for you that can get it, are good to block any type of iodide and some other isotopes from getting in your thyroid. They do sell fall out kits online too. I work with radiation everyday, but the best way to stop from getting contaminated is distance, time, and shielding(lead is a big shield).

    1. 1525: The EU's energy chief Guenther Oettinger has said that in the coming hours "there could be further catastrophic events, which could pose a threat to the lives of people on the island". He told the European Parliament the Fukushima nuclear site was "effectively out of control". "The cooling systems did not work, and as a result we are somewhere between a disaster and a major disaster."

Edit: Also, did some digging, The 3 mile Island icident occured in the same manner, There was a few days fighting a losing battle trying to cool the core before it melted down and they had to evac.

A Melt Down in Japan would release Godzilla. The Tacomas dont get thier powers, until a peice of the sun is installed in the air box. Then.....They would all leave their owners, and form one giant tacoma and fight Godzilla. After that......no one knows what could happen. They could separate, and go back to their respected owners......OR, realizing their new found powers, could turn evil, and run amok in the world striking vengance on all teh people who did bad mods, poor maintinance, and to dealers who refused TSB's....
