So far so good, I liked my 5100/887 setup until I added armor, these ride similar to those but with the extra weight. I don't have much to compare to but I can say I like how it feels currently. Haven't gotten a chance to get them off road yet to see how they feel though.

I don't have the same bumper, but my winch is similarly mounted. I cut out the vertical part of the support and the winch just clears.

Supposedly the same type of Valvoline oil can be used. Am I mistaken?

Edited: Hmmm, I will treat this as a learning opportunity and change the oil again to some API GL-5 SAE 90W oil type, per the recommended spec.

Almost done with my Atoto A6 install on a 2012 with JBL. Got the steering wheel controls to work flawlessly, right now just waiting for my step down converter for the back up camera.

I'll do a write up as I had a hard time piecing stuff together, and couldn't really find a direct thread on the install.

I imagine the JBL caused a little more work plus the camera converter requirement. I didn't have JBL, or any amp, but I can really get the Kickers thumping in mine. That cheap unit has such a wide range of adjustments that I have no need for an amp. I like the bass boost for each speaker. That helped me with no sub. Glad you figured out the steering wheel controls.

After doing some digging I thought I would post what I found in regards to our manual stating to use either/or, GL-4 or GL-5, for the transfer case, if anyone is interested I found this thread on Bob the Oil Guy, it doesn’t come and say which one is a better option but gives some decent insights to help those with taco OCD like me make a decision.
    https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/gl-4-or-gl-5-in-4runner-transfer-case.260391/

some good info here as well.

Well I bought a wiring harness (instructions vague) and turns out didn't even need. after some research and digging through wiring diagrams and finding a video of someone installing the same head unit in his F150. So saved $50-60. The head unit is amazing for the price and you are correct the EQ settings makes 100% difference than my stock HU. Very impressed and worth every penny.

Working on my write up to post. Hopefully it'll help other 2nd Gen peeps.

Whats the step down converter? Link? I'm facing an issue in my 2004 4runner with JBL, i can't get the backup camera to work and thinking it may be a signal voltage difference (from my internet reading) like 6v vs 12v signal or something. Kind of at a loss so exploring all options.

Here you go. This is probably the issue. Toyota uses 6 volt cameras in majority of their vehicles. Follow the Axxess TOYCAM1-6V instructions to install the step down converter or whatever harness you used. I just provided the one I used for my Taco. :)

Thank you - May be asking too many questions, but would the head unit not even display anything or indicate a backup camera if the voltages were different? or would the camera view look weird? Right now i'm getting nothing when i shift into reverse but everything is hooked up (besides a step down converter).

I would definitely love to see your write up on this. I installed the A6 not long ago but I never got around to figuring out the steering wheel controls

Yeah it wouldn't work at all. Try the step down converter. I'm 99.9% sure that's why lol

So for the steering wheel controls you don't need any kind of wiring harness. You literally take pins 21, 22, 23 on the 28 pin connector and connect one to the ground and the other 2 to the brown and orange wire on the Atoto A6. Then program them in the head unit.

This is really the most complicated part. The rest is just matching wires so not 100% sure if a separate thread is worth it. But let me know what y'all think.

Bought a used Decked from somebody here and installed it on Saturday, and then replaced the old half-width seat delete deck with a freshly-built full-width, taller one. I'd planned on making each side of the rear portion removable for access to the cubbies, but there's enough room that I can simply reach below the deck to grab whatever I want under there. The dog will be happy to not be sitting on a bed on top of a moving blanket on top of bags and boxes of tools and car parts, and also to not have to be sharing space with the battery for the fridge anymore.

It's strictly cosmetic, but I replaced my center caps with new ones today. I made the mistake about a year ago of using a super heavy-duty cleaner on my wheels and it stripped some of the color off the TRD logo from all four center caps. It's bugged the crap out of me that I did this, so I decided to just order new ones. Little things like this can make a vehicle look like crap IMO.

Had same issue on my wife's white 4runner. Ordered some vinyl inlays that fit perfectly and to color match with the super white paint.
