replaced stock speakers

i cut out the inner speaker and used the outer spaeker as an apater.

 

I bought the adapters, but can't decide what speakers to go with. What'd you choose and how do you like them? What'd you do about tweeters and crossovers?

i went with the kicker ks series built in tweeter and kept factor tweeter sounds like i added a sub

 

Are you also running an amp or just off of the factory or aftermarket head unit?

Does that head unit works with the steering controls? If so, what is that unit?

I did the same thing with some Alpine S 6x9s. Highs and mids are a lot better. I need a new HU to really drive the lower end though. I also have a slight rattle on the right door I need to diagnose. Have the dynamat, just need some time to do it.

 

Pulled the door panel again today, and rerouted the wire harness because I though it might be the source for the rattle. Replaced the panel and it was still there. After feeling around on the panel I realized it was the speaker cover portion of the door panel that was rattling. I don't know if it was because I had to trim as you did in your first picture, but that's my initial thought.

I pulled the panel again and dynamatted around the speaker cover and reinfirced the "fins" that run across the facr of the speaker cover. No more rattle! Definitely a more solid sound out of that door now. Now to pull the other door and dynamat there!

 

I'm replacing my front 6x9 speakers in my 2011 AC and plan to use the existing speaker adapter exactly the same as the OP did. If I do it this way, will I still need speaker harness adapters, or will the existing harness plug still plug into the speaker adapter and then (I assume) there's wires that will then attach to the speakers??
If I create my own speaker adapters, what is the p/n for the speaker harness that I should get??
