Back in December I posted a thread on my issues with tearing CV boots and the following came out of it, 4k miles later

I had a pow wow with my mechanics and we settled on full warranty for the CV's, so no out of pocket for me on this test. They used Napa's and after 4k miles. They are already cracking in the same spots.

So once again, I would ask if any one can see an issue with angles or anything jump out at them. Again I am running a OME Hvy Kit front and rear for my ARB front bumper, 265\75\16" tires and everything else is stock. The pics are on a pretty even parking lot, wheels slightly turned to the left

Anyone see anything no one else can seem to find, besides the shock bolt being backwards? And the driver side just has some mud on it, it's not melting.CV_Pass.jpg

Those axles only have 4,000 miles on them? Wow.
It’s like the rubber boot is being broken down?
Do you use any types of cleaner on the underbody?

That first pic shows a heavy wear ring on the one boot. Try the “boot slide mod”. I’ve had 3+ lift and the fins don’t touch.

Might consider trying a differential drop. On my 2007 with a 2" lift i've had diif drop spacers on for the last 16 years... the boots still look like new. Also, i spray them down with a silicone lubricant every couple years. I've removed the spacers and a inner boot fin touches on both sides... reinstalled and they don't. Just my experience.

    Another thread?

You get what you pay for. A good quality axle costs more than 150$. Did you ever call the dealer and ask about OEM remans?

I'm going to make calls to some of the dealers for OEM today and I am still looking over CVJ's 9808T's. They do bring up a a point but it's not used on anything but the county dirt roads that I do drive on, but I can't see mag chloride being the cause as they only lay it down once a year and I am still driving HWY most of the time. Either way, yes, you do get what you pay for and this is just ridiculous. 2010 with 111,000 miles shouldn't be doing this to me.

Has any tried using MOOG CV's? It was a option that was brought up.
I called my mechanic and he is going to see about the OEM's
And lastly, I spoke to John at CVJ and we talked about the whole situation and he did recommend the 9808TR and without my OEM cores.....

    Are OE remans an option?
You can buy them straight from Toyota.

My mechanic is looking in to that for a friends and family discount. CVJ did say the lift and crap rubber were probably the cause. But that is also a salesman talking.

I haven't changed any CV boots in many years, but in the past I've had good luck with the premium boots from Raxles on cars. The few times I used them, they lasted 100K+ miles and still no cracking when the cars were sold. On one car they were on for 160k miles with no issues. Changing the boots is a messy job, but it isn't difficult to do.
