I remember seeing a video of a guy in a Subaru stuck on a hill with a dead battery, the electronic parking brake would not engage and the gear shifter would not go into Park without battery power either, lol.

I really wonder what the electronic parking
brake situation will be on the 4th gen. Can you imagine that happening on the trail? Also do we really need a power tailgate? Maybe they envision more full size buyers will cross shop the new gen, those buyers love bs like that.

It’s why I got the 3.0L. It’s a little more truck than I need right now, but with her having three boys, I can’t fit them in the back of a midsize on long trips. Count in that midsizes are getting heavier and not better economy, I figured I’d dip my toes. I also drive nearly 550mi weekly for work, so this is much more comfy than my old Tacoma.

Now I’m looking at trailers to haul things in and out of town with. I knew better.

And well….Musk, for a guy who wants to save humanity, he sure isn’t very nice to people. :)

Have a few clients that have Teslas, think Toyota fan boys are bad…Tesla owners are full on cultist. They are quick, I’ll give them that. But they certainly don’t scream luxury to me, when I sat in one, told my client…think you have been had. The look they gave me was priceless. Give me a BMW Alpina instead…that is if I was into cars. Too much of a truck person.

I miss my Tacoma, and then Wrangler, having a hand brake. It’s just functional and takes up very little room.

I sure do like that 3.0 half ton, it is the price that kills it for me. At that point buy a 1 Tonner. Maybe if they had it available in the WT, I would consider.

No kids here, why the access cab works great for me, use it for gear storage. Of course Toyota had to go and kill it…they could have had more of my money. Looks like Ford (or Chevy) will get it next go around.

Was just looking at the Chevy 1500 diesels. Price too close to a 1 Ton for me.

I would much rather have a regular cable handbrake, same with the tailgate, don't see the need for powered.

Something is seriously off about that man haha.

Range, 0-60 performance, no dealer network and charging infrastructure are their strengths. That being said they have terrible handling dynamics and cheap interiors compared to the germans. They have the highest margins in the industry for a reason, they cut corners. They won’t even commit to using radar for their driving assist. They claim cameras and AI suffice, but it is all about cost.

I agree Tesla Owners are cultist. No other car company could get away with charging $10,000 for a feature that doesn’t exist. Complete smooth brains.

Not sure what the release in the cab is for with the tailgate. If you are the one loading or unloading the bed. You have to be at the tailgate anyway. I didn't find it useful, one of those features I used because it was there. Someone might find it convenient, but it's an addition system that can fail.

I don't like the electric parking brake. Never have had a problem with one, but I've never had a problem with a cable brake either.

Yeah just a touch off…that guy.

I certainly don’t get it. Lotsa hype being purchased.

Do understand Toyota since I have been driving them for 30+ years, but do know they aren’t perfect. While I am looking at other brands, will admit it would be hard to stray. There is something charming and comforting about driving a Toyota. The “feel” hasn’t changed much over the decades.

My truck has a button for a tailgate release on the dash and my fob. I wish both of them weren’t there. I’ve incidentally hit the dash one a few times while reaching for something in the cubby under it and the truck doesn’t go “hey we are moving maybe we shouldn’t do this.”

    nope. ejecto tailgaito cuz.

Dunno, could see the need for the power tailgate, I am always lugging gear and stuff in and out of the bed just about every day, have an armful of stuff and have to put it on the ground so I can close the tailgate. Use the hell out of our trucks, the added convenience would be nice…especially since we tend to be rushing around. Hit the fob to close as we are walking away.

Maybe the bumper/hitch is a prototype and the production version will be different. The Trailhunter had exhaust that dumped right behind the rear axle - obviously not the final configuration.

They are both the final configuration. A Toyota video confirmed the exhaust. Dunno how they get to do it, but they confirmed it.

You like access cab but won't buy another tacoma because they got rid of it so instead you're buying a full size super duty that has a quad cab? You lost me lol

$45k for a Rwd Xtra Cab, I don't think so.

It's almost like XC is the Tacoma and the DC is the 4Runner.

Yea pretty much a 4r at this point. I like the look of the extra cabs better, if they’re marketing that model as the “work truck” I wonder where prices will land.

Fords supposedly had an issue with the button mine never had an issue. The STX I got now has no button inside or on the fob, actual key with this fob. No tailgate dampener either.

There was an older gentleman making a delivery in a newer F-250. He walks around to drop the tailgate, having already locked the doors. Can't open the tailgate, the sound he made was priceless. Walks back around to the cab unlocks the door, then walks back around to the rear of the truck to drop the tailgate. I'm sure he's been driving pick ups long before tailgates had power locks. Convenience features sometimes make things less convenient. I do like having a locking tailgate for security.
