I remember a smaller chain in Michigan as a kid; Henry's Hamburgers - pretty popular until the horsemeat rumors starts, back when social media was word of mouth. Was totally unfounded, and untrue. Killed the business completely though.

 

It was "docent day" (guide) at the CAF Hangar today. Got there early for a parking place, and only one other guy there. Couple mechanics later on. Everyone else was elsewhere. Put down some oil dry, and sprayed "my" 2800 radial with Kroil, then it was tours the rest of the day. Successfully worked the register that I got trained on this morning.




"That's All Brother" C-47 did not make it back as scheduled on Monday. It had to divert to Baton Rouge, and blew a cylinder on the way. Luckily, no metal parts went in the engine, and no oil came out. Hats off to that crew! Our chief drove over there, and looks like he will be going back with a replacement cylinder. And to think it was scheduled for a complete engine tear down while here.

 

It's a shame. There's nothing wrong with horse meat and there are way too many feral horses, to say nothing of the horses languishing under human "care".

Nice, that's "B" Series motor, most R-2800s I've seen over the last few years have been the "C" Series motors; I like it.

 

We got free (donated) from an Austin junkyard! Poor thing is very beat up, but we're hoping to make a nice cutaway model out of it.



Seeing as one of our lead planes is now missing a cylinder in Baton Rouge, it's no wonder our Chief has no time for it. Heck, I only got 15 minutes today!

 

I'd sure love to turn a wrench or two on that beastie; but Texas is a tad out of my neck of the woods.
