3rd set of CV boots in less than a year, need help!

Damn, i've got about the same lift and been burning through boots. Did the boot slide mod and even spent the $190 on the Offroad Solutions High Angle Boots but they tore after only a few offroad trips. Im considering a 1" diff drop and running oem boots with the mod. I have a front bumper im gonna install and probably add a winch soon too. Im hoping all of that will bring my axles into ok enough angles to offroad. Unfortunately I cant bring my front suspension down anymore without changing springs.

 

I did the diff drop too in addition to the ORS high angle Boots and they still tore. That's crazy that yours tore with the boot slide mod, never heard of that. I still haven't replaced my torn boots yet, just gonna run them as is till the CVs go

 

Thats not reassuring XD. Any issues with running the diff drop. Hate to lose the ground clearance but worth it if i can prevent tearing for longer than 5-6 offroad sessions... Dont want the other issues people have had with diff drops though.

 

Agree with everyone saying reduce lift from 3" to help with the angle as well as the boot slide mod.

Also, what coilover are you running? The same thing happened to me when I used the high angle boot from CVJ. The boot broke shortly after install and found out that the high angle boot is actually thicker in material, has more ribs, longer, and wider in diameter than the OEM boot making it incompatible with my King Coilovers because of their wide diameter base. CVJ now has this disclaimer on their site: "Red Silicone Higher Angle Inner Boot, This boot is wider, longer, and has more ribs than the OEM design. Needs additional clearance of +1″ diameter around the inner joint. Also needs additional clearance of +1″ along the shaft. Please check the clearance around the inner joint before ordering."

 

The version of the boot mod I saw/used involved leaving about a half inch of the small end of the existing boot on the axel which includes the ridge that fits in to the groove in the axel. The new boot rests against that stretching the new boot out a little.

 

no other issues with diff drop that I noticed

 

I have an Eibach Stage one lift...I think it's 1.75" front and 1" rear.

My drivers side CV boot had a tear/slit. Truck has 3800kms and maybe 2600kms with the lift. Not sure if dealer will be able to cover it under warranty. Is this common even 1.75" lift?
