    the primary difference in tooling is that tubing and pipe diameters are different so the dies are different lol

    Tube is measured by OD and pipe is measured by ID. 1.5" sch 40 pipe is like 1.66 OD while 1.5" tube is 1.5"

    Plus for bending pipe you don't really need to bend past 90

    Everything is pipe in my trade. But hvac guys all buy pipe in OD but plumbers all but it based on ID.

    Dont need to adapt if the pipe fits over the other and you can just pinch and weld :luvya:

    But really i always see tube benders go for cheap online used but everyone say’s don’t buy a tube you want to buy a pipe bender.

    Don't buy a pipe bender for bending tube is the common one I think. A pipe bender will kink tube because the dies aren't the right size

    Yeah but it's pretty much a given that if you're going to bend DOM, you're going to buy the right bender.

    The dies alone are over $400 each.

    I mostly feel the same about my field, if you're motivated and hustle hard enough you can get the same education much faster and cheaper by just working with/assisting pros. That's where you build your network anyway and that's arguably the most important part

    Except when you get into the 9-5 career type jobs the degree carries some weight. Gotta be a damn good one to justify the cost though lol
