I bought a '17 SR 2.7 new, and from day one, it would occasionally exhibit a "hooting" sound when accelerating from a stop. Enter my brand spanking new '23 SR5 2.7, and I'll be damned if it's not making the exact same noise.

Anyone else with a 2.7 notice this? Can't figure for the life of me what it is.

We do have a resident owl, but I haven't found the hood unlatched yet. :D I read a few threads about a similar noise possibly being A/C related, and also saw a TSB for it, but would they not have corrected this by the '23 model year?

If you're talking about T-SB-0004-22 for the a/c evaporator whistling noise, that covers model years 2016-2022. It's definitely more of a whistle than a hoot though, and usually only lasts 2-3 seconds. My 2021 does it intermittently just before it's ready to shift up when the RPMs are higher. The fix is to replace the evaporator assembly, and it's not that annoying where I'm willing to have someone tear my dash apart and cause rattles where they don't exist now.

Yeah, I'm not inclined to have the dash torn apart on a brand new truck, particularly if the noise itself isn't something that will lead to failure of the system down the road. I sure as hell wouldn't want to address this out of warranty however.

    Secondary air pump?
It’s right by your windshield wash reservoir tank.

I don't think the OP gives a hoot what day of the week it is. (Sorry, I just HAD to)

I've heard that with my 21. It's almost like a whirring whistle for a second or 2 just before a shift point going uphill. Seems to be around 35-40 mph at 2000 rpm when it happens for me.

Maybe it’s an actual owl chasing the hamster that powers the 2.7L?
