So our IT team is in India
There is a local freelance IT guy we use when needed
I was just told that “ we don’t want to call him to in. He’s $200/hour.”

Jumping shit cakes, Batman! How the hell I get one of these $200/hour IT jobs??? I been in IT since 1992, and I sure as shit don't make anywhere near that much. Of course the freelancers have always made bank in the IT industry. Around 12 years ago, I was working for Bank of America. One afternoon in a break area, I overheard some other employees talking about their department having a bunch of Consultants/Contractors at something like $175/hour. :spending:

Cisco certified first responders (security incident or major outage) can make more than that.

Now that makes a good bit of sense. Security issues being what they are at present, I can see people willing to pay top dollar for top talent and that level of results.

I've been doing Major Incidents (non-security related) since 2012, at 3 different companies now (Bank of America being the first), and I guess my employers didn't wanna pay top dollar for top talented people to respond to major incidents. Anything other than a server reboot or service restart usually takes 6+ hours to figure out, and many times 12+ hours. o_O :bananadead:

    :notsure:
He said it was someone he's known for 35 years; he calls Dick. So I figure it has to be someone really old named Dick; and Van Dyke is the leading top contender I could think of...

So yes, my managers name is Richard. And I asked if I could call him Dick, after he made a comment about our work.

2nd meeting I was asked to stop talking so they could finish the meeting.

Yes I was politely asked to shut up.
