I’ve had an 02’ Tacoma for years, but the time has come to upgrade. I’m 6’4 240 and its a pretty tight squeeze in the older models, especially since my commute is currently 110 miles a day. Was curious if those who have experience with newer models thought they were significantly more spacious. Considered a Tundra, but I’ve heard they can’t hold a candle to Tacomas, not to mention the giant price jump.

with a 110 miles a day commute, for 5 days a week, I would be looking for something much more comfortable and efficient,,,, especially for an NFL linemen.
The Tacoma is a great truck, but a high mile daily commuter it is not,, not to me.

You should definitely test drive one before even considering a purchase. You aren’t going to be happy with the lack of headroom imo

The 4th gen Tacoma’s are reported to have more headroom.

5'8" and 145 over here and I find myself needing stretch breaks before the tank is empty on road trips. I've been driving 1/2 tons for 15 years so I'm still getting used to its compact size.

I would suggest a Tundra. I’m 6’5” and 315 with a 14 Tacoma. I love the truck but I barely fit and would need more room if I was doing long drives regularly.

Look at some 14-21 year Tundras

Not a giant price jump from 3rd gen Tacoma if not the same.

Unless you're wanting to go new

    I drive a Miata.
Commute like that, I would buy a beater truck and leave it at home. Then I would decide whether I wanted a sedan or a wagon for the weekdays.

    I'm a fat dude.... 6ft & 375. I drive a 2nd gen 2012 double cab 233 miles round trip 5 days a week.

I've got nearly 540k on that truck. It's been comfortable enuf for me. No clearance issues.

I've also got a 1st gen 2003 single cab with a 5 speed. I drive the shit out of it..... Although I look like a gummy bear stuffed in a Hot Wheels car. It'd be a bit more comfortable if it was an extended cab but I still drive it comfortably.

My new 2023 double cab seems no different in interior volume from the 2012 to me. The seat ain't worn in yet to my ass yet, so it sits a bit higher, but other than that it sucks to not have a driver's side "oh-shit" handle.

I’m 6’5” 235lb and I fit in my ‘22 Dual Cab no problem. That’s with operating a clutch as well. No sun roof.

Appreciate all the info guys. Sounds like I should for sure just sit in one on a test drive and see how she feels. Tundra might end up being more my speed, just gonna be hard abandoning the best truck on the market.
