The area surrounding Subaru Park is a total shithole, so I was half-expecting my truck to not be where I left it after the show; I was, thankfully, wrong!

The previous owner of my house left so much junk behind in my garage, threw almost everything away except for anything interesting or that l could possibly use.
Fast forward a few years, finally restored this lighted magnifying glass and built a wall mount that allows it to swing out over the workbench.

I never know what I am going to find in the scrap bin at work on any given day, and I found one of these in the steel scrap bin a couple months ago; I brought it to the scrapyard with a shit-ton of other scrap, only to be told that I would be charged because it had glass in it. I got the glass out later that day, but didn't feel like driving all the way back to the scrapyard for what I knew would be a paltry sum; I brought it to the scrapyard last week with a bunch of aluminum scrap and microchips, and got $1.40 (rounded down to a dollar due to the scrapyard's policy). At this point I refuse to scrap anything other than HVAC equipment for personal profit, and I just bring shit from work so it doesn't end up in the dumpster, and eventually the landfill. The best haul that I ever had for work was well over $400 for a bunch of computer stuff from the IT department, back in 2020 or 2021. The best haul that I ever had where I got to keep the money was the decommissioned central A/C and furnace that I obtained from a neighbor, which came in at like $75 for everything including the compressor and the nonferrous metals.

1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE; I will say once again that I have a huge soft spot for older Chrysler minivans because there were three of them in my family well into the 21st century. My aunt and uncle had a 1986 Plymouth Voyager LE that they bought new, which they replaced with a new 1997 Plymouth Voyager Rallye. They had the '97 Voyager until trading it for a new RAV4 in 2009 under Cash for Clunkers. My other aunt and uncle bought a 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan SE that they bought new and had for a decade; I spent a significant portion of my childhood in these vans! Unfortunately, finding them in even somewhat decent condition is almost impossible in the Northeast, and the overwhelming majority look like this van...

Conversions of Chrysler minivans were nowhere near as common as Astro and Safari vans (Windstar conversion vans were also a thing, but they were uncommon like the Chryslers). The 1996-2000 minivans still enjoy a remarkable survival rate around here (ranging from worse condition than this to downright mint), but 1984-1990 and 1991-1995 are not common at all. There's a DJ with a mint 1989 Grand Caravan LE who uses the van to bring his equipment to car shows, but I just don't see that many in the wild anymore because the newest ones are now almost thirty years old, and the vast majority were scrapped years ago... :(

It's a 5-speed, and it's got factory A/C, so it's downright luxurious by Festiva standards!

When the owner went to the DMV to get personalized license plates, "FESTIVA" was already taken, so he settled for "FEST1VA"...

This is a base model Festiva, so the owner swapped in a gauge cluster with a tach from a higher-end Festiva. He removed the odometer from the original gauge cluster and put it in this one, so the mileage remains accurate! You can also see the lack of intermittent windshield wipers...

My aunt’s husband had one of those when she met him.
He’s about 6’2” and 265. Big guy in a little car.
