Really would only want water storage (say 2L bladder) and maybe a phone pocket. Just didnt know if anyone had a tank bag that had a bladder pocket built in.

Just take fewer bags and you'll be set with what you've got.

The previous owner did the break in oil change at 600 miles which IMO is too late for a small bore high RPM engine. When I did the piston in the monkey I changed to oil after the first 45 mile ride, then again after 6 more heat cycle rides then one more after that just to be safe. These engines rev high and stay there for long periods of time. Oil changes every 1000 miles is not unreasonable.

Dang that sucks I'm sorry man. Probably due to lack of oiling, stock Grom pistons n cylinders don't fail even when beat on when maintained. Least a replacement cylinder is cheap!

Yeah that's way long for breakin... My Grom gets oil changes every 800-1k miles... It's only a quart so you think about it that's 5k miles on 5 quarts..... Exactly what a 2nd gen 4.0L v6 OCI is

Decided to give the GF some different back rest options when the top box is mounted on the tenere. All the way forward is nice as the box doesn't stick out so far but it was a little too far forward.

That’s not my Grom. All I have is a harbor freight case one the back.

Jeez who would wait 600 miles for break in oil :anonymous: mine seems to be going strong at 1300 miles with one oil change at 600 miles.

Spent the afternoon riding out to the St Joe national forest and got in a solid 30 miles of dirt and gravel out of a 120 mile ride.

I haven’t done that much gravel or dirt in one go in a long time, felt good to get some practice back in.

How is the F800 for reliability and maintenance intervals? I've always liked the BMW look, but it's hard to filter out the fanboys who say it's all perfect and the haters that say it'll never make it a 1000 miles without an issue to find the real story on them. You don't seem prone to hyperbole in either direction, so figured I'd see what you say about it.

Oof. That maintenance interval... then again at the snails pace I have been putting on miles it'd wind up being a once a year thing. :annoyed: A big draw to the 500X for me was the long intervals and generally easy maintenance. I think the only thing it needs beyond basic oil and filter changes every 8,000 is valve adjustments every 16,000 IIRC. I'm not equipped or confident enough to do the valves, but if I keep it for 100K miles that'd only be 6 trips to the dealer for it. On some 500X forums I've seem some people say that unless the bike is running a bit off you don't actually need the valve adjustments done that often, either. Not sure I'd be willing to skip it, but there's a reason people love the Hondas. They aren't flashy, or super fast, or the most thrilling, but they are usually trouble free!
