    Evening all:

I just saw that they are opening a "Nathans" hot dog stand in Allentown Pa. We have a hot dog joint named "Yacco's" just South of us, that serves some pretty darn good got dogs, they are made to a specific recipe with a high beef content and kind of look like a fat short Slim Jim when served. My favorite is their chili cheese dog, again with a specific recipe for the chili, delicious, they have been in business since 1922 so they must be doing something right.

Some pretty darn nice cars there @noldman59!

Welcome to the porch @Number41, new guys always fill the cooler before taking up residence on the porch.

Have a good day guys. Had have a rat rod in there . A couple others I didn't get pictures of because a lot of the guys cruse them. The traffic and people that come out It's fun times except there is a lot of booze so you have to keep your eyes open. 3 bars serve 3-8 and the city allows outdoor and walking around for this event monthly June - September 3rd Thursday.

Carrots on the grill are very good to. I have also done beet slices on the grill the same way. They are root veggies so they take some lower temps and longer cook times, but IMO, very good.

:hungry::drool: many good food ideas and not enough skill (on my part) to do it all. We have some excellent Chefs on the thread with great recipes. Maybe we should change the thread name to 60+ barbecuing, smoking and cooking thread :D.

Ken you are correct, about the chef's . There are 3 guys in the K of C group I'm in, that are top notch cooks far above my skills. My wife and I have been ordering some home chef meals once in a while. They have been teaching us new skills not exactly cheep but so far good for quality and education we think have been good.

Both myself and wife are far from good cooks. She has a very limited menu of food she likes (mainly beef and potatoes) which doesn't include vegetables. I can do a pretty good breakfast but that is about as far as my expertise goes. Her idea of a gourmet meal is blueberries in her Cheerios . If she liked more foods she would probably enjoy cooking more.
    Keep on learning Murray.:fistbump:

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/hot dog wreckers. We had more rain earlier this week and are supposed to a wet day or two again today and tomorrow. The yard is recovering, mostly. We'll have a high of 70 here today; meanwhile my son sent me a picture of his car's outside temperature readout from San Antonio -- 107!

Ketchup on a hot dog?!? Puh-leeze no. My favorite is a coney island; chili sauce, mustard, onion over a well cooked weiner. TBH I can take or leave the onion. Mustard and relish is good too. No ketchup on burgers either. I like them with a big slab of tomato on top, or if I'm feeling frisky I'll get bacon and swiss. A place near here adds bourbon barbecue sauce to that combo and they're mighty tasty.

But the best hot dog on earth is...

...Yacco's! Their hot dogs are awesome. Well cooked dog, potato roll, great toppings. I almost can't resist pulling through every time we pass one so I can order "two no onions". Cash only -- no plastic. Funny thing, my wife can't stand them! I guess they're an acquired taste.

Our favorite a green pepper cut in half as the crust with a sausage, marinara, cream cheese and kale topping. Didn't think we'd like it at first but we don't miss the bread crust.

I have something hanging on my wall that says, "It's not how much you have that makes you rich... it's how much you enjoy." I have a friend with a looooong list of things he won't eat and I feel bad for him. He eats a lot of junk food. One of the greatest gifts my parents ever gave me was, "Never insult the cook by refusing to eat what is provided. Try a small portion and if you don't like it, don't ask for more.", and, "Try everything, every chance you get."

I've heard that it takes an average of nine times before people enjoy something. I know I didn't like all kinds of things as a kid that I absolutely love now. You can have all of my green Jello, though...

I used to be that person, my biggest dislike was if it swam it didn't touch my lips. I have been trying some fish once in a great while. But I have been eating more fruit and vegetables than I ever did growing up/

<slinking back into the group> Good morning fellow Porchatonians!! Just couldn't stay away.

@boatswain - did you ever venture down to Easton for a Jimmy's hot dog? The original place was run by two brothers and sat on the Phillipsburg side of the old bridge between P'burg and Easton - thus the nickname we gave it: James' on the Delaware. They eventually split and the original recipe (boiled in beer) ended up in a place at the 25th Street Shopping Center off Rt 22 in Palmer Township. There's a stand still on the P'burg side of the old bridge. Ok, but not like the good old days.

It ain't a hot dog with out ketchup, I agree. The few times I have a steak it's only salt and pepper. Maybe a touch of garlic powder.
