Good to see that the T7 craze might be balancing out. I know there were a bunch of folks that bought them and flipped them for more than they paid, and used ones were going for new prices or more. This one's been up for over 2 months, unheard of previously, and has dropped $1000 in price. Ludicrous sellers trying to sell a bike for more than new prices after they rack up thousands of miles and start bolting stuff on it. I'll never understand how people think they can add mods and then expect to have the next guy pay for them when they decide to sell. Kinda hope it sits a few more months and he has to drop the price more.

If i were you. Id change break in oil and filter at no more than 500 miles on your CB500X. Then do an oil n filter change at 4k miles and every 4k after that. 8k is way to long IMO for all of 3 quarts of oil - especially when you consider not only does that oil have to lube the engine but trans and clutch as well.

Valve check @ 16k miles should be done, i doubt you will need to adjust but its worth the check, and if you have the service manual and just take your time id bet you would have no problem. The hardest part is going to be get down to the valve cover (removing plastics tank etc) not the actual valve check.

All that stated +1 on a bike that isnt flashy, top power, best on paper etc - Its the reason I got my super tenere over a KTM adv.

I think it's less the T7 craze and more signs of a quasi-recession. Seems like a lot of used cars, bikes, etc are all coming back down from orbit. I've really noticed it in the MTB space lately as well.

Just wait till all those who are / have been buying these things (adv bikes, fancy MTB etc - the luxury items) have to start paying back their student loans they havent had to pay in 3 years.

The factory break in is 600 miles, and I plan on 5k changes personally.

I plan to have a dealership do the valve checks, because I have nowhere to do it. No shop, no garage, and I can't control our bizarro weather.

Super T is on my radar as a potential end game bike along with the T7, Africa Twin, and the new V-Strom 800. I don't need a track bike or anything super duper fancy, and I may just stay on this bike forever, too.

Totally get ya in that case for not having a spot to do it. Super T is definitely outdated (really nothing has changed since 2014), its heavy, its big, its clunky but it just works.

That new Vstrom though! I had no idea they made a new one and strayed from ye ole sv650 vtwin motor. That looks like a bitchin middle weight.

As far as I can recall, the only thing I've had to do that was outside of normal oil changes/maintenance is replace the stator at about 32K miles and the cam chain tensioner that wore out (probably $150 and $50, respectively). Parts for it are expensive if something breaks on the case or body, but mines been solid, and everything that's broken has been my fault, not BMW's (aside from the stator.. known issue that was fixed on 2012's and up). I change the oil about every 5000 miles or minimum once a year and it's about $75 to do so for oil, filter, and air filter.

That sounds pretty chill. Is that one of their boxers, or is it a more traditional twin? I need to google it and see what the seat height and weight was on them.

Husband sold his for $12k, thats what he paid in total with the markups and bullshit fees/taxes so he broke even at least. (He sold it with something like 40 miles on it, basically new)
The kid that bought it said he had been looking for a black one for a year so the price was reasonable to him at that point. :notsure: Hubs called a local dealer, they had one coming in unspoken for, and he put a deposit on it. Still no idea how with the stories we’ve heard on wait times.

Yeah, but that's a far cry from a bike with 5k+ miles selling at MSRP like that guy was trying for. He had to drop it 1K. I also think he's delusional thinking the blue/white/black mismatch is desirable. 90% sure everyone would rather have the all black, all white, or all blue version.

FOMO definitely plays a role. Thing is, if it were like what @FlyingWolfe stated (Essentially new) that's fine. Running up 5k miles and then selling for new prices is where I would pass. I'm cheap enough and willing to wait though. The whole point of buying used is that I don't have to pay all the dealer fees. If I have to reimburse you for those on a used bike, I'd rather just pay the dealer that money and have one that isn't used.

Going to check out a Yamaha YZ250F tonight. 2015 so it's got fuel injection, seems to be bone stock and a solid price. Dude selling it is military and says he never gets to use it, doesn't know the hours though, and that it's mostly been sitting for the past 4 years, just started up once a month by family. Did fluids, spark plugs, tires in March. Told him not to start or warm it up before I come to see it, so I can see how it starts up and runs when cold.

Any other tips to look out for would be much appreciated, don't know much about dirtbikes yet.

I've certainly fallen victim to this many times, namely truck parts and missing sales.

@50Buck would you be interested in a Kriega tank bag converter?

Parallel twin, pretty narrow overall. Seat height is slightly above 34" if I'm remembering correctly and weight is like 460lbs, although I'm sure with bars and everything I'm closer to 480. They did have a low seat and low suspension option that got it down to high 32's I think?

Check for frame rash where boots would wear against the sides of the frame / clutch / stator covers. You can put brand new plastics on a dirtbike and make it look like its never been ridden but worn smooth areas by boots can not be changed.
