There is a Benjamin Moore $$ dealer in town, True Value or Do It Best are my other options. I'm not a painter or a ladder guy - not looking forward to any of this. :(

I've heard really good reviews about higher grade Benjamin Moore stuff. Didn't care for the muresco I used on the garage ceiling (poor coverage, smells bad) Most of the work is in the prep. I really have to hype myself up to get painting done.

I’m not a painter but have painted a lot inside and out. It’s a little bit more $ but I like Benjamin Moore. Sherwin Williams next but neither from the box store.

The standard paint we were using on campus was SW ProMar 200. In the last year or so we switched to Benny Moore but I'm not sure which flavor off hand.

my sister works at a local paint store, they're a benjamin moore dealer.

there's a difference in quality between the local stores and the big box store paints. the local stores mid grade is equivalent to the big box stores ultra-special tier stuff.

talk to your local paint store about your needs, they should be able to offer something that works better.

    they're my sympathy tool store.

i go there every once in a while wondering how they're still there. usually buy a trinket or two.

i rarely leave menards, home depot, or harbor freight for less than $200. lowes, if i hit $30, it's a big day...

I buy stuff from them and HD, but it's limited.

Lowe's has a few exclusive items that aren't terrible, but still.

I have done a couple houses in the last couple years and swear by Benjamin Moore Aura. Spreads and covers beautifully, is exceptionially resilient, and dries at what I think is the perfect rate (pretty quickly).

    IMG_9608.jpg

A couple progress pics, this is the trashed front room we were scraping popcorn ceiling in last month. Ceiling has fresh plaster and all doorways/windows are finished off to trimless now plus 2 coats Benjamin Moore Aura. Given its longevity, I think it saves money long term to pay for BJ Aura up front. I was paying $100/gal but have that down to $70/gal now.

Also fwiw my favorite primer is PPG Gripper given its spread, coverage, and fast drying time.

edit: that color is called Baja Dunes, selected partially because we like baja and dunes too.

Another vote for Benjamin Moore products. Our entire house is being done over now (very slowly lol) by my cousin who runs a small painting business. All BM paints used and I’ve done a handful of areas myself and really enjoy using this paint. Definitely not the easiest on the wallet but well worth it to me since it feels like the superior product to use.

I didn't want to dribble paint on the crusty mat to my shop. Better on the concrete where it never comes up. :p

Rule of painting: Some surfaces even good prep and clean techniques, yes the paint sticks OK, but not always perfectly. But one drip on concrete that had zero cleaning, and that same paint will cling for its life for years.

but but but... there's an empty hole on the left? what's going to go there?? Good on ya to lay it out so it's clear for people. I run into this with the missus... She needs to physically see something in the space to give the approval... gets to be time/cost prohibited to make changes.

Years ago my Dad bought a used 4x8 table from a local pool hall that was going out of business. If you've got transportation down, that's half the battle. We replaced the felt as it was dissembled, and honestly that wasn't that bad. about 1000 staples and you're good to go. If you're having a company do it, and they're stripping the old felt off, take a look at the bumpers. If they're worn in spots might as well replace them now (do all 6 of them tho, you want consistent bounce off all the rails). If it was always a home table, then I doubt it ever got the hours to wear down the rubber tho.
