They made nearly 250,000(!) of them. They’re not rare or special. There’s likely hundreds of every configuration with delivery mileage in a garage somewhere.

Buuut that beige Corvette might have been the second most popular color in 1998 but it was 1 of 10 made on a Tuesday with a week ending in an odd number made by a man named Bruce with a last initial of Q.

The irony is I looked at production numbers for a laugh and mine’s like 1 of 919 1999 coupes in my color and you know what, doesn’t phase me in the least. It’s a 24 year old Chevy with an interior out of a Cavalier.

But I can’t deny bombing down the highway with the roof off hits different. If only it was a Supra, or a 300ZX instead.

    "I dunno, good?"

"What do you mean you don't know? How can you be so disrespectful to the brand by not caring about this? YOU MUST CARE TO ENJOY THIS! You must know it down to the thousandth of a second, and if you aren't improving by .005 seconds, then you're not spending money right. You must spend 20k to improve by .007 or you aren't a real owner"

At some of the bigger shows I went to they had separate Corvette areas.
Most of the old Street Rod/Muscle car guys were the "Beer n Burger" types.
The corralled off Vette guys wore clean white hats and were the "Wine Tasting/caviar" types.

The exceptions were the Vette guys who had non-matching or blower sticking out of the hood types.:rofl:They hung out with the rest of us.

True. I did totally forget that I have the hitch mounted recovery thing.
They said they are mounted to the frame where the OEM trailer hitch attaches:

True, just like smashing it into the ball hitch, but more chances of it happening. Though it doesn't stick out super far.

EDIT: Just a thought, it would make for a decent step up, lol. Would probably also not help any departure angle stuff.

That as a step would be super sketchy. Barely any real estate and would be slick in the rain. I see a toe grab slipping and just going full weight into your knee. Bang ding ow.

They seem easy to make, easy to accent, moderately functional, easy money maker for a fab shop is my guess.

I was lectured at a car show for “changing too much” on my car. There is a set allowed modifications you can do to the car. Red and yellow interior detail (think NOPI Nights circa-2001), chrome, flames and Americana are all acceptable. Anything else scares them.

Reminds me of an old co-worker who had an early SN95 Mustang convertible (pre-mod motor, bright yellow) when I had my STi. He’s like “that looks fast but I doubt it could keep up with my Mustang”. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I could probably beat him in the quarter without using third gear.

Nah, I'm done with it. Basically everything I've ever touched on that car has broken or made it measurably worse. I changed the headlight assemblies to high quality HID projector retrofits, big fail. I changed the seats to Corbeaus, big fail. I upgraded the headlight motors to brass gears, fail. I used an OEM harmonic balancer, fail. I'm actively searching for a WRX because I've decided if I need to make a poor financial decision I need to go big.

    To the "purist",yes.
Back in the 90's, a guy I knew put together an early 60's convertible.
Thing was a rolling chassis with a truck bed full of non-matching everything.
He built a Pro-Street ,tubs and all,Vette with a Big Block.
The car would never number match no matter how many times you clicked your heels.
The "correct facing hose clamp" guys totally snubbed him. He couldn't care less.
Nice car, fast at the track too.
