You did, apologies. The vast majority are diesel and the ones that have excelled on testing reviews are diesel. Not drinking the Kool-Aid on the 4-banger gas engine in a truck.

Yeah I'm sure all the auto makers will say they are going full electric by whatever date. They say that and the lemmings go, yaaaa! No one ever presses to see how they are going to accomplish that. The electric grid in the US and EU is crap. All those wind turbines don't even make enough energy to make up for what went into making them. Same with solar. I work in that industry and those systems are crap. Companies just want to appease the current mindset that electric is better for the environment, which is isnt.

Recognize a few, wouldn’t have which were truck applications would you?

The new Bronco I drove today sure was a hoot, nice to have some bottom end off the line. Like I said earlier not against gasser turbos, longevity is a concern. Highly doubtful it would go as long as my 5VZ-FE, which I could have squeezed more life out of it. It ate the passenger side head gasket at 435K, if you’re going to do one head, should both. No clue how long the rest of the engine will last with that many miles, might as well just redo the whole thing. At least that is how I fix things, go beyond what you need to do. Cry now, or cry later.

Your point is clear. You don't like the 2024 Tacoma and you think Toyota is "cheap and lazy" because they don't make what you want. Spin it however you want if that makes you happy.

My point is that the reason Toyota is #1/#2 (vehicle sales/revenue) is because they build what sells. I happen to like what Toyota is offering. It's not perfect but not bad enough to go to an alternative.

Actually you’re completely wrong. (No huge surprise!)

I like the 2024 Tacoma, have said it many times throughout these threads. They fixed all the little nagging problems, more torque, linked coil rear suspension, much better payload. Looks are subjective, sure it will grow on me as the Tundra has. Interior looks fantastic!

What I don’t like is they killed the Access Cab, that was a very poor decision on their part. I love the easy access of mine, literally use it multiple times a day. So that means if were buy a ‘24, would have to get a DC to get that same easy access to the rear storage. We don’t have kids, have no use for the rear seats why I like the AC…anyways, a DC would work, need at least a 6’ bed. Would have to get the DCLB, and at that point might as well buy a full-size both for price point and size. That is why I’ll most likely skip the 4th Gen, your reasonings are completely off. You think it is because of a turbo gasser and no diesel. Wrong! Love everything but the loss of the AC.

And yes Toyota is being cheap and lazy for never offering a diesel here, if they can do it the very strict euro market they can do it here, they have the resources. In fact their euro diesels can now run on Bio-Diesel.

Ehh agree to disagree. But Toyota knows how to sell cars. They continue to be #1, You can skip this Gen but others will take your place.

I'd call it cream and not white. Upside down cherry cheesecake if I was to describe it to someone. Yeah it's probably desert tan.

I guees this is Desert Tan which I like more.

All the other trucks that I saw were white and terracotta, could just be the lighting in that photo.

I did see a white base model new Colorado today.

Oh I know. My point was, the planet will be fine! The people however…are fucked! :) and honestly the only way to stop human influence on the planet is for us to go extinct. Even then our actions will have a long lingering effect. Was watching some documentary on life after humans, it is suggested it would thousands upon thousands of years for the planet to recover from us, not mention the half life of nuclear waste. For an example, Plutonium-239 has a half-life of 24,000 years.

Think that is a completely different thread….or we can keep up the shitposting in this one until we get more info on the 4th Gen. Come on Toyota I want to see the base price of the SR5 DCLB to confirm my assumptions that the Tundra DC 6.5’ bed is the better buy. :)

What is there to agree to disagree on? Snake-eyes thinks I am skipping the 4th Gen because it doesn’t have a diesel. That isn’t the reason.

I'm still baffled by the 2024 Lexus GX550 getting 17mpg (combined). It's a detuned 3.4T (349hp/479tq) so it's somewhere in between the Tundra base motor (349/406) and the upgrade (389/479). The 4x4 Tundras get 23 and 22 combined (respectively), that's a big difference. Way better than 17.

The rabbit hole I was going down is that the Japanese spec GX550 has an optional 2.4T hybrid option. I checked the Japanese Lexus site to see they had MPG data for that configuration but it either doesn't exist or I cant read ラインアップ.

Yes I know. That wasn’t the argument. Again snake eyes is completely off base why I’ll skip the 4th Gen, that is what the argument was about. Was simply discussing why Toyota never offered a diesel…and for some bullshit reason he thinks that is why I don’t like the 4th Gen, fuck I don’t know, maybe he is day drinking....same reason there never was a diesel option is probably why they kept drum brakes on the Tacoma for so long, they were milking it and being cheap.

Hell, even Mike Sweers wanted a diesel in the Tundra, if that happened could have got one in the Tacoma. The previous CEO of Toyota also wanted to hold off on going all in on EVs because he knows the infrastructure isn’t ready yet. Of course they forced him out for having logic.
