Mine snapped off right below the spring. It probably broke when I beat it straight. The break doesn’t look clean. It’s like it’s been slowly giving up the ghost.

I used the internals from the new pin and was able to thread them onto the old sleeve. The original ball needed to be broken off the threaded rod and the new one screwed on. Easy peasy.

@Blue Canary I got it in the mail today and swapped in. Anyone else that breaks one needs to make sure they don’t toss the threaded part the old one. Vise, some channel locks and a grunt will spin the ball off. The ball threaded on pretty snug for what it is. I thought it was going to break before it let loose.

I’m glad you got it to work. You definitely need to save the threaded sleeve and reuse it with the new pin.

I picked up a 2016+ high clearance rear w/ dual swing out from a fellow member but I do not have my hands on the bedside support bracket. Can I proceed with installing the bumper anyways while I wait for the bracket or will I absolutely need it for the bedsides. Thanks!

Your bedsides will probably just flap in the wind. Entirely up to you, don’t really see a problem as my buddy went a year without the brackets with a different bumper. But again entirely up to you

Thanks! Saw this in the morning and it gave me the green light to install my bumper.

For anyone installing without the brackets in the future: Install went well the bedsides are a tad bit flappy but luckily my cuts were just about perfect so that the edge trim I placed over the cut meets right over the bumper and the friction keeps the fenders from flapping unless moved with a bit of force.

    This bumper is sweet btw.

Yes, the one I linked from Amazon is a direct replacement.

edit: damn, didnt realize the price jumped so high. I got one off of amazon in september last year and it was expensive at $80 but google shows it up to $150 these days. At that price, I'd rather try to get a direct replacement from billy or just order his custom ones for a little more. Sheesh.

Yeah that's a big price increase! I no longer see the custom one on their website. I'll just give Billy a call. Thanks!

@Bruteforce Fab what lights do you recommend running in your 12-15 plate bumper with single round cutouts?

This was the same one he used on mine. I can't say if it's the only one he uses, check the cap on yours to see if it matches. I'm not gonna use mine anymore, if youd like to buy mine I'm sure we can find a mutually beneficial deal

Cut my fenders for the 2nd gen high clearance rear. Does this look like enough of a cut in this little area under the taillights?
