The swap Lakewood recap I posted the other day mentioned that a bit as well. Jett constantly has his head on a swivel each moto, and will turn it up if someone starts to close his 10-second safety/comfort gap he cruises at. Pretty wild times if this is the new reign we're about to see in the sport.

Saw that roczen is in. Wonder if he was thinking how easy a podium could be.

I don’t think he will podium. It’s still fast racing, Jett is just in a league of his own. I want to see Jett get a bad start and see him blow through the pack like the Bubba Stewart days.

@AJH387 think it's going to dry out at all by the time moto 1 starts?

They should give Kenny $100K just for showing up and bringing some excitement. Everyone else is pretty lame compared to Jett.

That was an impressive ride by kickstart Kenny! Unfortunately the kickstarter was his demise, that was hard to watch.

That was pretty typical of how that track can be. Get rain the day before and it is like a mudder at first. Then it starts to dry out and the ruts start to firm up. That track was just brutal.

I'll have to do some riding this weekend to get my fix.

Wouldn't be awesome if every dirt bike at washougal had to be 2 stroke. Or at least one national you have to ride a 2 stroke

I'm gonna try and get out tomorrow as well. Likely going to be arm pump misery after a few weeks off.

I wish they still had the 125cc series for pro moto. That was a blast to watch, and a time when Stankdog was actually a good racer lol

That would bring some excitement. One round of the playoffs should be a 2 stroke only.

There aren't even that many 2strokes that are legal to race. Until Yamaha re-did the YZ 125/250 in '22, they didn't even have them homologated, for a few years prior. So that was why there haven't been any Yamahas for a few years and now you see guys on them again (Burkeen, Lesher etc.) So there just isn't a way to do a true 2stroke Pro race because only the 3 euro brands have a legal 2stroke and now Yamaha again. But for a while they didn't even bother to make the YZs legal to race pro. But the 125 All-Star races didn't have any certification or anything, which is why you saw guys on other brands, older models and more custom stuff etc.

Keep in mind, Travis Pastrana is a life-long Suzuki guy and 2 stroke guy. And he even started riding KTMs because it's just too hard to get parts for the older RM 2strokes. So it just doesn't make sense for anyone to seriously race an older Suzuki, Kaw, Honda etc. Although that would've been cool to see Kenny race that old RM250 that he mentioned. But perfect example was him at Honda on that older Factory CR250 they built for RBSR. They had to scrape to get that bike ready for him It's just not worth people's effort to race those bikes seriously.

Even more justification for your post - Ken rode a YZ at this year's straight rhythm.

Interesting stuff. At least the 2 strokes are still alive even if just a few manufactures make them. Makes sense for a privateer on a budget to jump on one for nationals. Make an extra 20-15K if you place first out of the rest of the 2 strokes in your class. Jett is going to double or triple lap you, but still love the sound. I still like to try out one of those new TBI ktms.

I honestly think they should allow 250 2strokes in with the 250F's. That would help privateers. 250Fs are ridiculously expensive to build and maintain, on the pro level. Ad the advantage that the Factory teams have in that class over the privateers is larger than in the 450 class. They should make that change and I bet you'd see a lot more 2 strokes. But it wouldn't hurt the top results. but it would probably increase participation and help out the privateers.

I agree on the new KTMs. I'd like to try one also.

Those 250F are sure expensive to maintain.

For sure. As they come from the showroom, they are actually much better than they used to be. If you leave it to bolt-on mods, then they will last a reasonably long time for the average rider. But when you build them way up and are pro level speed, the budget sky-rockets. That's where I think it helps the privateer. You don't have to do as much to build the 2stroke up. It's cheaper to maintain. And let's be honest, Burkeen or Lesher (for example) are not going to be holeshotting the Factory 250Fs and blowing those guys away (no offense to those guys.) So I think it's a fair change for everyone. But brands like Honda, Suzuki, Kaw etc would never go for it, since they don't have a 2 stroke. So if all of the OEMs aren't on board it won't happen. And the AMA, promoters etc aren't going to ruffle feathers over that, unfortunately.

Glad they got better. Forever ago my brother had an 08 kx250F. Rode great, but that top end didn't last. It sucked to kick when it got hot. Unfortunately I wrote them off since then. I have a 350 dual sport, so I haven't quite wrote off the small bikes.
