That's a horrible idea. What time?
To me it looks like someone drew some wheels on a couple of cardboard boxes. With Ironman's face.

I'd wait for the new landcruiser. Don't settle for a lexus made patrol that's ifs.

If the landcruiser is gonna be sized between the fj and t4r, I hope to hell they are bringing the 70 series in an auto and manual option.

I don't even give a shit about infotainment, just don't put carpet in it, and price it competitively with the wrangler and dominate the market.

    Agreed..

Good grief. 3 different colors for three different grills on the front end….. damn thing doesn’t know what to identify with.

Wow...wasn't expecting such a negative reaction, lol. Folk's tastes in looks are subjective at best, I guess I just think it looks better than anything Lexus has put out in recent years. I get it though, and it is one of the things I love about vehicles of all types; they definitely have opinions that range across the spectrum. It's just fascinating to me. Still would rather have that vehicle in my driveway compared to most others out there (IMO).

Of course I have to respond...

I see that now too, thanks for that (not). :D I would rather have an Ironman front than the Vader/Cylon front grille that the LX600 has.

I think Lexus has gotten some bad reactions/reviews on the garishly large grills of late and were trying to tone this one down. Of course that is pure speculation, but makes sense to me!

Back to the subjective point, I actually prefer the boxier look for SUVs (like the LR4, 70 and 60 series, etc.).

Not sure why I should shy away from IFS on an SUV? My 3rd Gen has IFS...and I'm not rock crawling a 75K vehicle. That being said, I'm with you and would definitely prefer the new Landcruiser over a GX, I just don't trust that they will actually bring it over here in the format you are specifying (I hope they do). If I could get something close to a 70 series that is competitively priced, then that is for sure the way I will go. I also want to see what the new T4R will look like and how it will be priced.

I get what you are saying and agree with a lot of it. I think I’m just getting old and stuck in yesteryear, of what a vehicle should look/be like. Dunno for sure, but it what I’m going with.

The new Land Rover Defender taillight assembly is a grand to replace (each). Led’s are nice, but I still like an actual bulb. Call me crazy. Haha

Yup. But we won't know until it's released.

10 years ago, no one thought toyota would sell a factory tacoma with a turbo, yet here we are

Probably two. The question should be how many didn't have the best rust into swiss cheese.

That…. is the question. I say two. My 84 had the rust spots at every spot weld at the apron on the lower bed

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I have no.idea how true this is, but it's a fun little read.

The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet, 8.5 inches. That's an exceedingly odd number. Why was that gauge used? Well, because that's the way they built them in England, and English engineers designed the first US railroads. Why did the English build them like that? Because the first rail lines were built by the same people who built the wagon tramways, and that's the gauge they used. So, why did 'they' use that gauge then? Because the people who built the tramways used the same jigs and tools that they had used for building wagons, which used that same wheel spacing. Why did the wagons have that particular odd wheel spacing? Well, if they tried to use any other spacing, the wagon wheels would break more often on some of the old, long distance roads in England . You see, that's the spacing of the wheel ruts. So who built those old rutted roads? Imperial Rome built the first long distance roads in Europe (including England ) for their legions. Those roads have been used ever since. And what about the ruts in the roads? Roman war chariots formed the initial ruts, which everyone else had to match or run the risk of destroying their wagon wheels. Since the chariots were made for Imperial Rome , they were all alike in the matter of wheel spacing. Therefore the United States standard railroad gauge of 4 feet, 8.5 inches is derived from the original specifications for an Imperial Roman war chariot. Bureaucracies live forever. So the next time you are handed a specification/procedure/process and wonder 'What horse's as came up with this?', you may be exactly right. Imperial Roman army chariots were made just wide enough to accommodate the rear ends of two war horses. (Two horses' ases.) Now, the twist to the story: When you see a Space Shuttle sitting on its launch pad, there are two big booster rockets attached to the sides of the main fuel tank. These are solid rocket boosters, or SRBs. The SRBs are made by Thiokol at their factory in Utah . The engineers who designed the SRBs would have preferred to make them a bit fatter, but the SRBs had to be shipped by train from the factory to the launch site. The railroad line from the factory happens to run through a tunnel in the mountains, and the SRBs had to fit through that tunnel. The tunnel is slightly wider than the railroad track, and the railroad track, as you now know, is about as wide as two horses' behinds. So, a major Space Shuttle design feature, of what is arguably the world's most advanced transportation system, was determined over two thousand years ago by the width of a horse's as. And you thought being a horse's as wasn't important? Ancient horse's as*es control almost everything.

That's what I said...are you just repeating what I wrote? You said, "Don't settle for a lexus made patrol that's ifs." To which I asked why I would shy away from IFS because that is what my own 3rd Gen Taco has...

Anyway...as I said, I agree with you on the LC and I am all in if Toyota brings a 70 series-like cruiser back here to the states. If they don't, I would not be sad to have the new GX550 in my driveway.

You all have a great rest of your weekend, and Happy Father's Day!

For some reason my comment got cut.

My 3rd Gen has IFS. Yes, it's pretty capable. But we both know you aren't going to wheel a 70k truck, much less put another 20k in mods on it, then wheel it. So get it if you want it. Your money.

The toss up for me on IFS or not was this.

I was going to buy the RCLT, and link the rear of my truck. Some quick rounded up math produced numbers that would be the cost of another vehicle, that was solid axle and could get really good travel numbers on 37s, for the same amount of money.

Knowing all I know now, I probably would have just bought the 80 to begin with.

Also, It's still a lexus made patrol.
