I got a call from the dealer yesterday. They said they hadn't seen my truck in a while. Since the warranty expired, I have been getting it serviced myself. How was I liking it? I'm still loving it. Was it dinged up any? Nope. Etc. Then they got to the real point of the call: wanted to see if I was interested in a trade for a new 2023. If I could trade mine in for a new Taco for the same payment amount for two years like I have left on my note I'd consider it. I said it in a way she knew I was joking, no need to be rude. But she said no probably not anyhow.

Have fun with that, they finally stopped calling me and it’s been kinda quiet around here. :(

Cold calls tell you they don't have much walk in traffic.

From their managements POV it's better than watching TV.

If you get one fish in 50 casts you've done well.

Last month they called and I finally found a way to make them stop. When they asked if I'd be interested in talking to them about a trade up for the same payment and no $$ out of pocket, I said sure, as long as you have a spare room in your house I can use when my wife kicks me out for coming home with a new truck. She laughed and said no problem, I will note your record. No calls since.

Last car I had I paid off in less than 4 years and it wasn't even mine, I got it for the girlfriend (ex now).

General rule is your vehicle should be 1/3rd of your annual salary.

Should be able to quickly knock it out.

No calls despite 2 vehicles. But I've had some mail and a few emails. Of course, I also ignore any numbers I don't recognize and if they don't leave a voicemail, I'll never know it was them.

just last week the dealership called offering a $39 oil change, since they have not seen me for a while. I have bought 5 Toyotas from the same location since 2000. I said no thanks since I had brought my Super White to them in December because of paint flaking. My past service advisor had left them, so they assigned a new guy. He looked, photographed and said there was no recall, but would contact Toyota to see if they would take care of me, as a loyal customer. He said "I will let you know". Not hearing from him by February, I gave him a call. He says "Toyota hasn't responded". So when called in June about the oil change, I passed. After hearing this she says "sometimes Toyota takes a while to return our messages". I said "six months?". "Kind of poor service for a long time customer, no thanks for your offer".
PS: we replaced my wife's Camry with a Honda this month.

I got that beat. I got a call from the sales-dude about a month ago. Asked the usual how-is-it-questions then he took a left-turn and started talking about other things, specifically that he left that dealership, and was doing something completely different, doing consulting work with a financial firm. Had zero interest in picking me up as a client just wanted to chit-chat.

    Quite strange.

I get the emails every few months that read as if they were just in the neighborhood and thought they would drop me a line with an attached .PDF of their current inventory. They have SR5s listed for $45-$47K, no thanks.
