Would also probably get better mpgs if it was a big gas V8. :D

My first choice was the Lexus but I decided to go with the RAM diesel because the $9,700 engine upgrade will save me a lot of gas money.

Imagine one of those big V8s in the new Lexus. It would be awesome.

Think you need a new calculator…

I will probably do the Ford F250\350 Super Cab 8’ bed with the 6.8 gas. msrp of $51,500. How I would build it. A Tundra SR5 DCLB comes out about the same. Pretty sure the Tundra would work for my needs, but for around the same price you can get a truck with better capacities.

At least that is how my mind works, the ‘24 Tacoma DCLB is roughly same size as a Tundra DC 6.5’ bed, cost is going to be similar. So the Tundra makes more sense, at that point price isn’t too far off a 3/4-1 Ton. The Ford gas doesn’t have turbos and has greater capacities.

It would! Bet that twin turbo would be pretty fun to drive though, even if it gets shitty mpgs. Hell, my Tacoma is averaging 18 with a far less powerful engine.

It looks like Lexus was going for the G Wagon look but missed the big engine part of it that makes it awesome. If you’re going to get shitty mpg you might as well make a lot of power and noise in the process.

    Not diesel???

Most Tundra buyers don't comparison shop with a F250/350. Are you sure you are on the right forum?

For the Brolander status quo, would get the Ineos Grenadier.

Resale value alone is a good reason to go HD over 1/2 ton. The NA gas engine is also a plus, the turbo diesels are appealing. Now if you are going to utilize the capacity of the HD truck it really makes sense to go HD over 1/2 ton. I'd opt for the cab lights on any HD truck, the other benefit of Ford is the optional upfiter switches which GM also offers.

HD gassers are good value used, FWIW. A friend of mine likes to buy 250/350’s in gas v10 to tow his rather large boat. Trades up every few years at minimal cost. They depreciate a bunch at first then hold value. Everyone wants the diesel.

Toyotas make sense to buy new but others, the math is harder.

Never said I wanted a diesel. Just said it was a shame Toyota never offered it in the Tacoma… you took it wrong, then dumpster fire.

Own two Tacomas currently, so yeah, on the right forum. Notice some guys in here don’t even own one, so there is that.
The ‘24 Tacoma peaked my interest until I discovered they killed the AC. Here for the bullshit sessions now. :)

Comes down to capacities and cost why I am looking at both the Tundra and Super Duties when I retire in 5 years. Think the Tundra would work, but kinda pushing it on capabilities. Like a bit more cushion. Looking at a bumper pull toy hauler plus want a pop up camper on the truck. Toy hauler will be the base camp for my wife, pop up is for my week long excursions. Possibly do a service body too, as I carry a bunch of chainsaws, tools, and spares for doing dirt bike trail maintenance. Really pushing the capabilities doing that with a Tundra.

Most of my buddies are in HDs, they make fun of my chick truck. Almost bought one instead of my Tacoma, just don’t need one right now. In 5 years yes. Do like the GMs, like the solid axle on the Ford better, as it will see a lot of Forest Roads.

Probably similar price too. I think that Ineos is supposed to start around $70K.

Yep, if you’re going to do it, do that. Choice of an inline six gasser or diesel too.

I was dead set on getting an HD, it was the whole reason I was getting a different truck. I didn't need the capacity, so I talked myself out of it. I'd still like to have one, maybe I'll get the XL 250 with the off road package next time. I still like the Chevy with the Alaskan package.

Could really use one at times, however I am still commuting for the next 5 years. Didn’t make sense as a daily, of course my friend’s F350 with the 6.2 gets 17 and my Taco gets 18, so there is that…we both paid the same exact amount too, $40K. He works for Ford and gets a deal.

Love my Tacoma though, and would have considered trading in for a ‘24 to hold me over until retirement, but they killed the AC. Probably still keep my 3G when I retire, use that for a runaround vehicle, and for my wife to drive.

Andre did a recent review of the cab/bed configuration I want. While I don’t think he has any place in reviewing trucks, don’t think he has ever picked up a shovel or hammer in his life. He is pretty good going over features though.
