I wish, it's going to be alright but it won't be as clean as yours.

When I bought the truck back in 2010 I purchased the interior overlay kit from Carid.com I ended up modifying it a bit to work with the alterations.
This was way before I got into modding the truck for off road/overland use.
Originally the Tacoma was my DD for work. Once the modding bug really dug in it necessitated purchasing another vehicle for work.
first was a scion Tc, then an FRS, and now I DD a turbo BRZ.

Just finished the 136 pages. Thanks to all who provided valuable info for this swap.

Couple of questions I didn't see posted:

1). Does anyone know the complementing female connectors to the 4x4 ECU plugs? @6 gearT444E @HomerTaco @EatSleepTacos
I'd like to make an intermediate pigtail between the two connector plugs for illumination so it's PNP.

It would be for the two male plugs pictured (that plug in to the 4x4 ECU).
    ECU jump.jpg
    [IMG]

2). I'm still not 100% sure which parts I'll need to re-seal/re-new the manual trans input shaft housing when I swap to a manual trans input shaft. Anyone know the part numbers to the seal(s) the manual input shaft houseing? Are there two seals there in addition to the o-ring or just one seal?

PN for o-ring is 96721-35063 but not sure what the actual shaft seal(s) part number(s) is/are?

    THANKS!!

Unfortunately there are no female plugs for those, best you can probably do is source the plug with the pins possibly from here (https://www.hi-1000ec.com/), similar to what's one the 2LO module.

I'd just leave the seals alone unless you find they are degraded. What's wrong with the seal? I've never had my old manual trans electronic case apart to notice the seals, just that there is the o-ring on there. Maybe @EatSleepTacos can comment I know he's had the cases apart in more detail not that long ago I believe.

Was hoping somebody knew which connector it was without hunting. As you know, Toyota uses several types and can likely be found with some effort. I'll keep hunting.

Thanks!l so much. I couldn't find any info past the 36102J part

I'm slowly moving along on my manual everything swap. I got the input shaft swapped, shift rails ground down, shift rail clearanced for twin sticks, case sealed and reassembled and will bite the bullet on clearancing the tranny today or tomorrow.

Just curious on who all makes higher spring tension shift rail springs and the cheapest source? I see LCE's got some but they're killing me on shipping ($20 for shipping on two tiny springs!)

Perfect, thanks. The ones Marlin has listed look like they are the same ones available from Wheeler's/Trail-Gear/Low Range for pickup transfer cases going back to 1979. I'll order them from Wheeler's now. Thanks again.

I blew up my FJ case. No final drive for the rear, loud banging, now doesn't rotate. Fortunately I was in my driveway (literally) when it happened. Where is everyone sourcing their FJ cases from and what's the going rate?

Check eBay or car-part.com. They seem more expensive now. When I used to look I would routinely see them for 2-400

Man, I'm curious what happened and, if it were me, would crack open the case to see what the deal is. Lots of shared parts between the t-cases and you might be able fix it for cheap.

As for getting a new case, I have a feeling the big parts stores like LKQ are hip to the FJ and 4Runner VF2B t-case being of value. Those cases have steadily risen in cost while the rarely replaced solenoid activated case seems nearly worthless. I needed a manual trans input shaft for my gearbox swap project and got a case from a local parts warehouse for $75 while the 17k mile VF2B case from a 4Runner I felt lucky to find and got at the same time was $500.

So... all that said, you might be able to fix your FJ Case with a cheap donor case but you'd need to crack it open to see.

I was going to replace it then dig in and see what happened. The longer story is I had a carrier bearing go out and when I put it back together I had the slip yoke splines off by one, all this the day before a 600-mile round trip... towing! The slight vibration turned to a huge vibration by the time I got home and I almost lost a u-joint (it was bad). So I think the overall vibration for 600-miles was the cause.

The local auto wrecker has one for $510 otd so I'm going to jump on that and hope...
