Good morning fellow Porchatonians! I took advantage of yesterday - and the days before - to get rid of my burn pile. Lots of old bee hive boxes and frames that were worn out along with some accumulated brush. It was good to finally have it gone.

Lynn's siblings are coming in for a visit starting tomorrow so it's going to be busy here for a few days.

Be safe and enjoy the weekend!

We have a hot air balloon festival going on this weekend. Balloons in the air yesterday morning and today. It's fun to hear and see them pass over the house so close you could throw a ball to them...

Yes they are. A little over 40yrs ago I got a chance to ride in one. I was out riding my bike and a promo company was going to have it go over our North Dakota state fair. I stopped for a couple minutes to watch them try to inflate it. When one of the guys came over and asked if I could help hold a guide rope they lost a crue member to an injury, rope burn and if I helped I could have a ride. I was all in . All I had to do was go home and get my car to follow it to where it touched down. I could have had my wife ride along with me but she didn't want to go up. It was a rush. If the burner wasn't charged it was a quiet surreal experience. However. It made me want to always want to go to that New Mexico baloon festival. Still on the bucket list. I've heard seeing all those balloons are amazing. Enjoy, post a picture or two.

Lynn and I have been crewing for a hot air balloon company for something like 8 years now. We get to fly sometimes and absolutely love it. Crewing is really great fun and exercise for us.

For whatever reason, that never really counted in the JGO household. Might have been the beer consumption and conversation had while I cooked - too much fun, scorecard - 0.

The help I gave was not as easy as I thought it would have been. The crew member that had his hand bandaged was coaching me. I thought it would be a great hobby till the ride. The pilot was explaining the reasons you need a crew. Chase cars because you're at the mercy of air currents and like you said it's a work out. But it was fun. It seems as if it's more left up to company ownership for advertising. The baloon I was in was owned by interstate seeds. Kinda looked like a large sunflower. In this God forsaken state. It is very rare to have a nice enough day to fly. If I remember the crew that worked to get it up and to float over the fairgrounds had been checking the air currents all day to get the perfect time to go. They had been in town for 2 days trying to figure out when it could go up.
