I would make a discrete mark with a lacquer stick, sharpie, or scratch mark on all bolts.

You can also ask for the old parts and video surveillance footage of garage bay during your stay there.

How will we know that the bay footage is not AI generated?

:alien:, put a witness mark on the corner of the camera lens? We may need more markers to keep this thread going.

I would be more worried about them cross threading the skid plate bolts and just sending them with the impact gun...

Either don't bring it to them or do. Mark the bolts and canister or don't.

Sounds like you should DIY the job given your anxiety.

    Such a stupid thread...

i would come up with some type of mark. maybe put a washer on one of the bolts and see if it is in a different location when you get it back. just a mark most likely the bolt will tighten to the same location. you could slightly loosen, 1/4 turn, then mark it and when they tighten should be past the mark. i have no doubt they actually do change it but did they do it right is the question. 99% will be fine but there have been horror stories here. if the tec gets interrupted just when he is putting the cap back on and then fails to complete tightening it?

the only people i let touch my truck for work i'm not performing are people that i fully trust to do it right. if i can't trust the people/shop, they're not doing it plain and simple.

One of my coworkers recently took his truck into the dealer (dodge) to get his oil changed because he wasn’t going to have enough time to do it himself. Turned out they left the fill cap off the valve cover and oil went everywhere in his engine bay, he called and they said to bring it back where they did check and refill oil level and offered to take it in for a free detailing because of the mess. That 30 minutes he didn’t have time to DIY cost him several hours of frustration.

Make a line with liquid wite-out. It will crack if they remove the bolt.

Why did you buy the truck from them if you don't trust their service dept.? Come on people get a life.

Don’t need to perform oil changes at the dealer to keep your warranty.

with that level of distrust that i also have by the way, the cost of a filter and oil isn't worth the risk and anxiety. do it yourself and keep a record of it. simple.

Maybe remove the engine cover before taking it in, so they don't strip the bolts with a rattle gun.:annoyed:
