    Sorry, but the TRD skid does not remove those. Most aftermarket skids do though.

    It's all good.

    I made the mistake of winging it when I put mine on. Mistake was realized when I looked at the instructions for the torque numbers.

    Yes, and the thinnest aftermarket skid is 3/16” steel or 1/4” aluminum. I’m no engineer but I’d say they provide the same or better support and coverage.

    that said there’s plenty of peeps that have aftermarket skids that stay off from time to time and no one ever puts those back while the skid is off.

    I have the factory issued one lug removed per wheel model.

    It rocks, 'cause it also has a windbag, jukebox and cruise. :p

    IF they are removed and REPLACED with another part that provides similar part, then I guess it's ok. But just remove and not replacing it with anything afterwards, others have already spoken.

    By the size of the front bolts they appear to be pretty important, unless those were remnants from the skid.

    Notice how not a single response explains to the OP exactly what they do and specifically what they are there for. Funny memes though

    I would say a skid plate DOES provide some frame support to this ass C channel design. I mean hell a ten lb jack can lift the entire truck when needed. So a skid does something albeit secondary to its intended function.

    i feel like this is a point where if one can't understand the vehicle dynamics being affected by modification of the oem vehicle structure, it really doesn't matter what we say.

    @steel wheels

    Very unique and mysterious for sure.

    The TRD skid rests on those brackets like a platform which probably keeps the plate from flexing.

    Definitely needed for structural rigidity.

    In a completely not-at-all accusatory tone, have you crawled under the truck and laid hands on those braces? Because the average joe-shadetree can crawl under there, see what they are connected to, and infer their intended function from there.

    The memes are giving a slightly different, partially unspoken message - if ya don't understand what it do, don't put the unbolter on it.
