I have the super white TRD sport doublecab short bed. I'm thinking about getting TRD fj wheels. Available to me are the Matte black TRD and the Anthracite TRD which are the gunmetal one. Anyone with a white Tacoma and have the TRD fj wheels? Please post pic if you have some. Also about the matte black TRD I would have to provide them with a vin#. Can I pull a vin off autotrader or something or do you need to own an FJ SE. If you had a Super White Truck which color would you go with? Please vote Thanks

    A few bolts are different.
I have heard you need a vin for both now. It must be a specific VIN from a TRD/SE FJ.

If all fail I will just put some goodyear duratrac 265/70r17 on the stock 17" sport wheels. I'm going to give it a shot. The dealership I called said they have the matte black and they noted that its specificaly for fj se. I'm going to browse autotrader and try to find the fj trail team se vin and provide that to the dealer. Can I get in trouble for doing this?

Anthracite wheels are easy... Trail teams wheels are crash replacement only and it will be very hard to get a set without buying them off of an FJ Trail Teams owner.

The Anthracite are the same way... Believe me, I had a tough time getting mine.

OP, Toyota is smarter than that. They will see the name does not match the order and will not ship if you give them a false vin..

I bought the plain silver ones then had them powder coated a matte black. It was quicker and easier to purchase the silver ones and then have them powder coated. I also feel the powder coat will take more of a beating than the factory finish.

Why is Toyota so uptight about these wheels, and require a VIN? Why not sell as many as they can?

I bought mine from a guy here on TW. You just have to be patient and constantly look at the BST thread.

TOYOTA of Tacoma which is the dealership closest to me say they can get me the Anthracite TRD fj in 2 days after order is placed. They want $150 a peice which I think is a steal and that's no VIN # needed. I confirm with the parts rep. that they are the gunmetal graphite and not the silver alloy one. Does this rep guy know what he's talking about i sure hope so. I might as well go in and make the order. I'm not obligated to buy if its the wrong one right?

The rep will place the order, then call you 2 days later saying Toyota blocked the order....

I love mine on my truck and so will you. Like everyone else on here said, they are a bit of a hassle to get from Toyota. I was fortunate enough to have the dealer make it happen for me before I drove my truck off the lot. Good luck brotha!
