    yeah.
    ever since i saw the youtube by project farm, i'd rather protect it by limiting a little air than introduce all that garbage into the engine.

    The GM Mechanic meant well, but clearly has limited knowledge. That said, I've read about the added charcoal filter too, but have never seen one. It's usually a "friend of a friend said" story for some reason.

    The K&N question always opens up a can of worms. I've used both oil treated (K&N, Spectre and others) as well as normal paper filters over the years (Wix ranks very high in most tests). Others may have different experiences, but the K&N didn't improve anything including performance for me on any vehicle, normal as well as cold air intake - although I've never tried one in our Taco. It did have a negative effect on the MAF sensor on two cars. Our Taco came with a Toyota TRD paper filter and it's working fine. Good performance with an average 18 -20 MPG (with an OTT tune).

    You basically already have a cold air intake. A quality paper filter, changed regularly, should be fine IMHO.

    Let the debate continue. :crapstorm::rofl:

    That's a great idea running the aux power from the FBC harness. I have the same harness. Did you need an additional pigtail? If not, which wire did you tap into?

    Installed a set of Sumo Springs front bump stops. I found I needed to cut off some of the threaded rod on the Sumos to make install easier. I matched the length to the stock bump stops. For me, even lifting the tires off the ground, I needed some additional room as the Sumo bolts are so long. With the tires off, my ODC kicked in, I cleaned up the wheel wells and sprayed some Amsoil Mud Slinger to make cleaning easier after the next trail run. I could feel the difference on a text ride after install. Especially over potholes and the occasional speed bump.IMG_0920.jpgIMG_0921.jpg

    The pigtail Dave ships with is a GM weatherpack 2 pin. Intended to be used on the Baja designs S1 with meso HitchPod. There May be other options, I haven’t looked in a while. Not sure how yours is if you have the aux option. I have the ability to make my own Deutsch connectors, which is what the Rigids come terminated to. So I snipped off the weatherpack and spliced those two wires to 4 wires, and terminated a Deutsch on each set, at the proper length for each respective light. Wrapped in tape and loom, zip tied and plugged them in.

    I bought a manual switch but I may never use it. The use case for them hooked to the harness as is is perfect. I don’t really ever need the manual option, though it would be cool to have set up just because. But I’m lazy and I haven’t figured out my fuse and relay panel setup yet so I have no good way to execute it for now. Ultimately the Dave harness functions as needed so I’ve left it like that for now.

    Had all four shocks rebuilt. Plus, some other maintenance was necessary. Now, the truck is like riding on a BarcaLounger.

    haha! I actually have though about going that route now. I have the S&B dry filter intake. It looks and sounds awesome around town. On the highway not so much.

    Spent the last few days wire wheeling and touching up my new to me Bruteforce fab rear bumper. Today I took the plunge and cut the bedsides up! This bumper is really nice. Need to loosen the bolts and readjust it tomorrow, will probably also reconfigure my leaf springs to accommodate for the extra weight.

    Also got spindle gussets and cam pocket reinforcement done from BuiltRight,(the truck shop sd) haven’t had a chance to pull the front wheels off to check them out yet. they look beefy as hell from underneath though

    Using this as motivation to move the tow hitch higher on my “must install” list

    I think he’s referring to the hitch not the hitch receiver, although I could be wrong but I believe all tacos come with a hitch receiver. Again, I could be wrong, not sure about the base SR model :anonymous:

    Actually the San Antonio plant only makes Tundras and Sequoias. Tacomas are made in Baja (DCSB) and Guanajuato (everything).
