I'm doing some sound dampening and I don't know what this is; wondering if I can cover it or go around it? 20230617_112147.jpg

Probably some factory dampening itself. Cover it.

These are not in order; I used 50Mil Kit from Killmat on Amazon, I believe around 25sq Ft., I used all but 3 Sheets on all 4 doors-I didn't go ham on it. I used the smaller pieces to fit on the plastics. I'm happy with the results. I watched multiple videos prior to installation; I believe tools used for plastic removal are much better than a roller. Killmat was very forgiving, easy to cut-the lines on the mat help- easy to move along the panel-doesn't immediately stick. I also did a portion of the passenger side A pillar. Photos were for reference and not intended for display but @khine13 persuaded me too.

Now is about the right time for someone to chime in and let us all know the reason why you should not have covered that up...

Something about voiding the warranty, or something of the sort...

    - I know someone is just itching to say: 'part out' ...

    :D

( I agree that you are fine!)

Is the difference very noticeable? Worth the time and effort?

The doors are much quieter, they sound solid when opening and closing now. For audio I would say there is a difference-more clear and crisp sound. Took me about 10 hours total. Install wasn't really to difficult, the Killmat was very forgiving and easy to move around, the hardest part was activating the bubbles on the film as I couldn't get a good pressure at some angles. I have not gone on the freeway yet but I feel that the road noise is now focused to the back of the cab so I will be ordering more and doing the back seats. This work has a domino effect- in that I will have to continue to do more deadening now. I would say it was worth it.

I had a couple sheets left over so i did the tailgate too. A spot on the a pillar on the passenger side to deaden a vibration from the tweeter and a 2 small sheets for no reason on the hood. Just trying things out. This is all thats left.
