That's a nice truck, super cab 8' bed are less common than regular and crew cab. I'd take that exact truck except in stone gray and with cab lights. 995 for the OR pkg is worth it for the tires alone. Plus the rear locker and skid plates. I'd like to see Ford change the halogen headlight bezels from chrome to black.

The 17 is probably a marketing error.

Dude, that white service truck with the camper top is sweet! As a Contractor who uses his Taco for work and to play, I could do some amazing stuff with that setup.

Yeah it is! OVRLND built the camper. Wanted a Tradesman like what is on the truck of one of the guys we ride with, unfortunately they went out of business. Though think the OVRLND is the better way to go, able to stand up in it, plus have a sleeping area up out of the way. With the service body, be nice to have all my tools and equipment easy access from the outside instead of cramming everything into the bed.

Can get the Ford with the power package to run my bench grinder for sharpening saw chains. Here in Idaho and most of the West, we have been decimated by wild fires. So almost mandatory that we ride with chainsaws. Have 3 different size saws depending on what we are doing, right now is considered early season, the trails are a mess. Heading out again tomorrow to clear trails.

You and I think very a like as far as trucks go.

    Price isn’t too terrible.

Has a solid front axle, too. GMC is the better looking truck, imo, but not having a solid axle up front confuses me for their HD lineup.

I didn't pay that much but the sticker on my 150 was 52. That's how dumb 1/2 ton pricing is compared to HDs. Less motor smaller gears less capability = more money. 1/2 tons are almost always discounted, still don't make sense. I was looking at RC F-250s dealer still had it, that's only because there wasn't any snow last winter it was a 6.2 6speed. The 8' bed Super Cabs with 7.3 and 10spd I found still had mark ups on them.

Even the DRW has been like that since at least 2013. Which was good if you want a truck low to the ground. The current ones are taller.

1/2 Ton pricing is ridiculous, and mid size for that matter. Priced out the Tundra, within a couple grand of an HD, no brainer to step up to a HD, especially since I would be on the edge of the 1/2 Ton capabilities. HD gives a bit more wiggle room.

Would do an RC, but have gotten so used to the space of an Access Cab, that and good for an emergency if you have to haul extra passengers. It never fails, either broken bikes or person.

Can’t get a locker in the 8’ bed Tundra, at least not that I can find. No OR package available for it. This is a SR5 with basically hardly any options on it.

The GMs do ride nicer, and nothing wrong with them capability wise, like SFA better. GMs are better looking, especially the ‘24 Chevy, the previous year was a bit doofy.

What does this have to do with a 4th gen Tacoma?

    Everything!

Because Toyota decided to kill the Access Cab, it snow balled…

No ‘24 AC Tacoma, have zero interest in the DCSB Tacomas, they are idiotic, imo. Would need to buy a DCLB to get a 6’ bed and easy access to rear storage. If you’re going to do that, might as well get a DC 6.5’ bed Tundra since they are nearly identical in size and price, and what Tundras are going for price-wise, better off getting a HD for money.

So blame Sheldon Brown… :p…from the video it appeared he was struggling with the new Xtra Cab, and wasn’t even tossing shit in and out of it. Looked winded doing his impression of the Price is Right girls…

…and until Toyota releases more information what is wrong with a little bullshit session? Hell, there are people on here that don’t even own a Tacoma (I have two of them currently), nor do they have any intention of buying one. There is a slim chance I might, waiting on DCLB SR5 pricing and full specs.

With as big and expensive as they’re going to likely be, may as well have cross shopping options. Mid sizes are the new 3/4s :p

Crazy to think that the new Tacoma has better towing and more torque (hybrid) than a ‘76 F250. Bit lacking in payload though.

Check out the wheelbase/track, the Tacoma DCLB is 144, track is super close to what it is now, Midsizes have certainly become fullsizes.
