I dunno, just doesn’t scream “I have to have it!” Specs look good for what we know. Probably better looking on 35s, will kill the dismal mpg we guess it have, at least it will have the torque to get them rolling.

Saw one of the new Colorados the other day, believe they did the machismo design better. Chevy is better looking even with the air dam. It is like the Toyota’s design team has been macro dosing too many shrooms.

Unfortunate only available in one cab configuration, they’ll probably loose sales over it.

Interior is better too, little cleaner, less going on. Dunno…bit disappointed in the ‘24, they’ll probably sell buckets of them. 30 years of being a loyal customer, they are loosing me…not sure if “well…It is a Toyota!” will keep me the next go around.

Looks like the test muel with out the camouflage. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same truck from the unveiling. Different wheels or paint, might just be plastidip on the the bronze wheels. TH and iFM bage under tape, no sport bar, and someone mentioned no lift. The OME shocks probably weren't ready yet, or Toyita didn't want to muck them up before going to Hawaii. There is the possibility that someone photo shopped the test muel picture with the uncamoed truck.

I have to agree with your opinions. The interior does look cleaner in the GMC/ Chevy. In person the new GMC/ Chevy has a great stance. The only thing I don’t like is the front end. I think the Tacoma has it beat there.

Wasn’t a huge fan of the new front ends either, but everything else looked good. A front bumper cleans anything up.

Lifted longbed always looks better than not. Unlifted LB always look proportional wrong at almost every angle. 35's would help as well like you mentioned.

LB with a 2" lift should be the default configuration IMO.

Even though the Tacoma DCLB is as long as a short bed Tundra, the narrower width is much more practical for parking in a garage. I can fully open all 4 doors on my Tacoma without denting my wife’s SUV or gouging the darn garage wall. For how I use a truck, the Tacoma DCLB works much better than a DCSB or short bed Tundra.

I would be willing to bet a six pack of favorite liquid beverage that the 2024 Tacoma DCLB SR5 will be at least $10K cheaper than a comparable equipped Tundra or Ford F250.

Yeah I can definitely see that being a reason to go DCLB. I personally would step up to a half ton if I needed the longer bed. DCLB Tacoma is a niche vehicle.

Comparably equipped sure, but you aren't getting a V8 in the Tundra, and you aren't getting a diesel in any Toyota.

Yup it all depends on the use case. I sleep in the back of my long bed all the time so I need the 6ft. A 6ft double cab tundra is just too big for our driveway. But the Tacoma long bed fits perfect

I wonder if the stock gearing will handle 35’s, they made an effort to redesign the cab mount so it can be modified easily for larger tires. Toyota is usually pretty conservative so it’s promising that they are running 33s from the factory, tells me they have designed the truck’s drivetrain and suspension to handle the excessive rotational force created by larger tires, unlike the previous generations. They also most likely designed and tested those components against the constraints of a 1700 pound payload capacity. This is good news for those of us that actually use those trucks as intended. Dare I say this looks like the strongest most and most capable generation yet.

I’m sure they’ll be fine but expect the normal tax to your economy until you swap gears. This isn’t Tacoma exclusive :(

About 4k more MSRP is the Tundra DC, a good option for people content with the back seat space of the Tacoma but need a legit work bed. Also see the Tundra DC one of the models most discounted.

That’s what I was thinking. I wonder how the aftermarket will adapt. Sounds like they developed the rear locker in combination with ARB.

The fact that they aren’t offering longer travel lower control arms is disappointing. That’s being said I’m guessing it’s the same reason they won’t offer a front locker. People will get in over their heads and break stuff with the added travel. Even though the ranger raptor and zr2 offer increased travel, has the rest of the truck been designed to handle that abuse? I have my doubts.

Has less to do with what Toyota thinks its customer base will do and what they know they can charge and not offer while retaining loyalty. They’re killing it without, why change the recipe?

I think that is exactly what happened too, they had to rush that press event in Hawaii. That would explain why they didn't have an Off Road or SR5 which are probably the 2 most popular trim levels. Also explains why they were lacking on details and did not allow anyone at that event to road-test or even drive one.

Yes, agreed. The Trailhunter was just recently spotted out going through more testing.

The Prerunner looked like it was built the night before it was shipped to Hawaii.

I don't think they even let anyone even sit in the Pre-Runner. Just remember seeing that engineering guy fold the passenger seat down to try to reach into the back of the cab.

I think I saw some one from Toyota drive it, and they took the air dam off. Yes I did see the engineer fold the seat down. I don't know why Toyota can't make that thing 4wd.
