    2023 Solar Octane Pro
Hi all, new to the forum as I just got a Tacoma last week! It's a 2023 pro in solar octane and I am loving the color. I was a little unsure about it at first, but now am really happy with it. Hopefully this is the right place for my question. It came with Predator tube steps and mud flaps, but I live near the mountains and plan on hitting trails soon. I'm looking into rock sliders at the moment. Does it made sense if I am heading off road to buy rock sliders, and before heading out remove the mud flaps and steps and bolt on sliders? Then when home reversing he process? Or is that too much hassle? Maybe just leave the sliders on all the time and sell the steps it came with? I do like the steps for getting in and out, but I see some sliders have steps on them as well. Any advice? Thanks.

If you are serious into off roading, take the predator steps off and the OEM mud flaps. Sell the predator steps and install a good set of sliders. Don't look back.

Welcome and congratulations on your new rig!

This post has a lot of good advice for new owners thinking about going off road...

FWIW ours had Predator steps and I sold them and installed some sliders. After following the advice in the post above, I'd set it up like you want it and drive it like you stole it. ;)

I'm in the market for new tires. These seem priced to sell and are pretty descent tires. Too bad I can't fit 285s

Thanks, that may be the way to go. I don't know how serious off roading I want to get, but living in Colorado sometimes you have to take rough trails to get to great campsites. My worry at the moment is catching rocks on the tube steps.
Thanks for the info. Any recommendations on sliders? It looks like there are a lot to choose from.

There are a LOT to chose from! o_O You can do a search for "sliders" (search box RH top of all pages) and get a lot of good recommendations. Otherwise I'll let the experts on sliders here chime in.

Just remember that your TRD Pro is very capable off road. Your weakest points off road are your OEM mud flaps, predator steps and OEM tires. However, If you are concerned about changing the look of your stock rig, maybe try a few trails out first. See how it goes and see if if you want to get more serious about getting deeper into off roading.

Damn. That's pretty good fuel mileage. I been getting 22 and thought that was pretty good.
