I recently got two DC 2nd gens and I am competely happy.

But I got this little feeling inside me that, that for the money, I could have had more features with the Titan. (leather, sunroof..ect)
I could also have more towing capacity....

I know it is a truck, but I like fancy trucks I guess.
I also know I would take the depreciation hit with the Nissan that I won't with the tacos...

Maybe it is not fair to compare the two since Titan is considered full size..but that little Frontier sucks man...so i can't compare to that.

i came from 06 titan le, i bought new> IMO the titan is the best 1/2 out there. I used to walk tundra's, silverado ss's, the big vortech max's, dodge 5.7 hemi's all the time. But I had uprev, detroit locker, throttle body bypass, spacer, exhaust, headers and stock 18" wheels. as far as luxury the LE package was awesome. I had the big tow package crew cab. just about killed everything in the 1/8 mi. but the top end of the titan was a dog.

-Unknown, then what do i compare the taco to? the frontier sucks.

-Andrew, I got two tacos cause I was hungry! lol. Actually bought my dad one as an early retirement gift. I liked it and suddenly another fell in my lap on the cheap, couldn't resist...canned the pathfinder and passat.

-907, you are supposed to tell me that Titan sucked to help me get rid of that stupid feeling. Actually, thanks for the info. I didn't buy for speed. I just want the luxuries, utility, towing and capacity (cargo and people) One thing I know, reliability ain't good on those Titans...neither is mpg or depreciation. Damn it-I want leather, sunroof and navi.

Leather reupholstery is like 800 bucks or so, and sunroof, check out this thread.

Tacos are the better choice, they pay for themselves, and they're easier to park too, i'd assume haha.

Keep the Tacos! Yeah leathers nice but it's a truck. I would like to have a sunroof option though. And from what I hear is that navigation in vehicles will soon be a thing of the past. If you want options like that why dont you buy a nice car for the days when you get the feeling that you want some luxury.

I like the Titans I wanted one for a long time. That said I think Ford would be my first choice in a new halfton at this point in time. I like their new engine line up and they have made big strides in fit and finish compared to years ago.

I like my Tacoma but I have to say, sticker on my 07 DC Sport 4x4 here in Canada was $39k and you seldom get any worthwhile rebates or discounts on a Toyota. I bought used and I would not have bought new because there's not enough truck there to warrant a 40 grand price tag in my opinion. I got a good deal on my used one though so I'm quite happy with it and the shortcomings can always be fixed with some mods. I'd like to do the heated leather which is about $900 then heated mirrors are gonna be around $100 for the factory style switch and some heat pads. Sunroof I don't want or miss. A back up camera would be handy but it's only about $200 or less for an aftermarket setup. Other than that I'm pretty happy and those things would be a lot of extra features for not a lot of extra money. Other things like a lift, fancy wheels and big tires don't come stock on any truck, same for a canopy or tonneau cover.

The only thing I want that I can't fix would be 48" between the wheel wells and maybe V6 fuel economy instead of the V8 fuel economy I get now (others report better mileage than I get though). Also I know 'if you want a fullsize get a fullsize', well I'm happy with all the other dimensions of the truck, it's got enough towing and hauling capacity, seating, cab room, power etc I just wish I could lay plywood down in the box.

A year or so ago the Titan was voted as one of the worst vehicles you could buy as far as gas milage goes. Hell, I'd buy anything else first over a Titan.

I really liked my 08 Titan. But since I sold the four wheelers and enclosed trailer I had no need for the 11-12mpg in town and 14-15mpg highway (no towing). I miss it at times but am content with the Tacoma 90% of the time.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
Had a 2004 Titan and it was a good truck, but like the Tacoma much better.

    Since 2000, I have had these trucks --- 2000 Tundra (OK) --- 2004 Titan (OK) --- 2004 Tacoma (Super Truck) --- 2006 Frontier (OK) --- 2007 Tundra (OK) --- but I like my 2009 Tacoma the best. .... All were 4x2s

FWIW ... if you can live with a smaller truck (smaller than the Titan) ... go with the Tacoma.

thanks everyone, very good points made above.
I might go for the heated leather and toss in a remote starter while I am at it too.
My little ragedy passat spoiled me with heated leather...

As stated earlier, I am content with the tacoma, what was bothering me in my head is for less money (used market that is)...the stock Titan gives more options, and a bigger truck (not really what I need or want)
What eventually saved me from going Titan was that I have a general distaste for Nissan after all the knock sensor issues, the weak suspension on the R50, tons or evap codes on all nissans, terrible gas mileage, terrible resale (DING DING-answered my own question)...ect ect.
