How was the lock kit to install? Been debating doing it, if I get a decked system.

Honestly it super easy. The Toyota kit has everything you need to make it seamless. Pretty much pull off the tailgate cover change out the grommet that the camera runs through to allow the lock harness to run safely. Then it’s one bolt to attach the actual lock. Remove the pass kick panel and sill plate and run a wire harness through the grommet by the seat. Then run along the frame rail ziptie it to existing wire harness. All plug and play. I picked the Toyota kit up for the same amount as the pop lock kit.

Less than 500 miles and only seen rain twice and one was today. How are there rust spots starting on the welds? Are these frames that bad?!?

Perfectly normal, but, if it worries you get it sprayed (or do it yourself) with Fluid Film. I do it every year to make sure I don’t get rust.

I know that things will rust but I really want expecting it to start already especially with no salt exposure and barely and water. Does fluid film just make it a mess under the truck?

    I def get it haha.

It doesnt make a mess but it is an oil film so if you rub up against it and stuff youll get oily.

so won’t it hold dirt and dust to the frame? Which then holds water?

I've used Krown the last 3 winters and it DEFINITELY leaves a mess! Not only does it drip for DAYS after the application, but trying to do any work under your truck is asking for oily/dirty hands and arms.

I keep having it applied every year because my truck is my primary means of transportation and I've spent too much money for it to rust. Until I can move out of the Midwest I'll probably just keep doing it and dealing with the inconveniences.

No. It’s an oil barrier. It’s whole purpose it to stop rust from forming.

I get that but sticky oil will hold dirt.

Went out to Wayne over the weekend. Didn’t do some of the more “serious” looking trails simply because I was alone but was a good 3-4 hours of trails before we decided to just camp at a camp ground in McArther.
